I think Eddie is focused on bringing in players that improve the squad and are quality over quantity, it certainly seems to me that the club are doing things their own way and, in some respects, have confounded a lot of media expectations, Big Sam is tiresome at best and has an ego that has never matched his actual achievements, I am sure that there is a smidgeon of jealousy as well when he looks at the club now and the way they engage with the manager and fans.
Fat Sam had free reign to spend and build his own team with us, and he bought a steaming heap of ****e in Alan Smith, Geremi, Viduka and Rozenhal. And let's not forget Joey Barton, who was in jail less than a year after being bought.
I agree and I think Carragher has been spouting the same rubbish,we finished 4th and recruited a few good looking players,the youths are stepping up,no injuries,personally I think the squad is fine,going out and spending millions on whoever is available doesn't work and is unsettling.
Carragher is one of the guys that's quite kind towards Newcastle. I understand people don't like certain things people hear , but in truth I agree with him on this.
I think the players we've brought in aren't quite the players people including Newcastle fans anticipated having qualified for the champions league with the exception of Tonali.

Exactly nobody had said otherwise including Carragher. It's people getting defensive rather than him saying anything wrong or even critical.
He didn't say anything unreasonable imo and if he'd said I think Newcastle have done crap business that would be different. All the guy said was what most people would agree with themselves which is they were expecting bigger signings and could've got barnes even last summer. He said Barnes is a good player too.
I'm not having a go at you mate I'm just pointing out that I've noticed Newcastle fans are ultra defensive and taking issue when there's no fight.

Maddison is probably the only player allegedly we wanted but who knows what happened there if anything at all,Howe knows what he wants and it's not mercenaries and players who think they're bigger than the club.
