Perhaps SAFC Supporters Association should send this Video to Mr McLean. http://www.sunderlandecho.com/our-r...takes-to-the-stadium-of-light-pitch-1-8247972 It might give him some idea of how much we supporters can treasure our Irish Players and what they think of US. The great Man last played for us nearly FIFTY years ago and got this kind of reception and this was not just because he was a great player but because he is a thoroughly nice person.
I don't mind if people choose not to wear the poppy. McClean however does it for political reasons & go's out of his way to make that very public. He's a **** plain & simple. He comes from The Creggan & anyone who has been there will know exactly what the people are like. Not the most welcoming of places if you're a brit.
My beef with Mr McLean has nothing to do with his not wanting to wear a poppy, although I don't agree with him on that point, he has a perfect right to take the stand he does. It is his constant harping on about how badly we, (SAFC and us Fans) have treated him. He seems to feel that this is because he is Irish. My point would be to show him how we respect our Irish friends. Note the word FREINDS.
McClean is a first grade tosser who is as numb as boot..If he had just chose not to wear the poppy I believe most Sunderland fans would have respected that. However, he went out of his way to use social media to try and portray the poppy as some kind of symbol of British imperialism which it most certainly is not... As for Big Sam, I was gutted that he left us when he did, but I don't think that many will hold a grudge against him for that..
