To be fair Mclean did miss an absolute sitter, we can't deny that. Yet overall he performed alright bar that, he had a huge impact for me. Instead of us dropping deep to get the ball, we had an outlet and the Ipswich defence where having to do some work and instead of throwing us all over the place like they did for a bit we started to get physical ourselves. Prossy though did well, i loved how he guided the ball, didn't look to force it, looked very natural to him to.
It was a decent chance, a free kick came in quickly and he threw himself at it, missed and ended up on the floor, then as it came back across he'd managed to get up really quickly to get something on it but he was coming up as he did it so it was always difficult to keep down. He might also have meant the one-on-one from a tight angle which he blasted straight at the keeper, not a sitter as such but he might have been expected to do better. Simpson missed the best chance really, inside the box in the first half he put it wide of the post.
Mclean missed a sitter and also wanted too many touches when he had another chance and got blocked out. However he wasn't the only one - Simpson, Aluko and Oli all missed really good first half chances today. Simpson didn't look as sharp as usual and how Aluko got MOTM is beyond me. He too often passed backwards when not tightly marked when he could have turned and ran at the Ipswich defence. All in all though a rousing last 25 minutes or so and the right result on balance
RE Aluko, he seems to be too concerned about taking people on even when there's no need. A few times today he received the ball with space ahead of him to run into but he seemed almost lost without having to flick it past someone so he went backwards in order to find someone to beat. He's a quality player but frustrating as ****.
I though Nicks winner was just like JVoH against Stoke in our final PL season. Great moment, and I called it too, if anyone follows me on Twitter that's where the proof is. Get in City!
Great to see NP scoring two goal and doing well. You feel for the management team when they spend a reported 2.5m on a player only to see him not make the grade at the outset. Based on what I have seen of him looks as though he can do a job-rarely seems to waste a ball. Lets hope he continues to stick them in.
Really pleased for Prossy but he needs to get physical quickly. The way he pulled out of the 50/50 with Wellens was pathetic.
Dunno if anyone else noticed it today, but Nick was warming up with the other players throughout the game, and joining in at half time unlike how he has been the rest of the season. Just seemed like he was beginning to feel much more comfortable in the side and amongst the other players, as soon as I saw that I felt strangely confident when he was bought on.
He's done that all season and it drives me mad. He's definitely got a bit of the Robbie Brady 'Roy of the Rovers' about him.
