Peaky telling it like it is, he's not going to lie. Innit. Because the property developers set fire to a building that just had £10m spent on it and his qualification and experience as a structural engineer gives him an insight into the cause.

How was the £10m refurbishment money spent ?

You said earlier that the block was built in the 60's using that as an explanation, until Eddie found out it was mid 70s.

 

The whole estate was started in the 60's, Grenfell Tower was a later addition which is why it doesn't look like it was built by a spastic out of Lego.

£10m doesn't go a long way when doing a refurbishment job on a block that size, the cladding used wasn't made out of highly flammable materials as our uni-brow chav suggested. How it was fixed and if there were faults in any fire stops would be where I'd be looking.

The block didn't look that bad before the new cladding, the others on the estate couldn't have much done unless there was major reconstruction works. They are an eyesore but have been there over 50 years, plenty of time for people to get used to them. I wonder if the others will now be demolished if they aren't considered safe. I'd be pooping it if I lived in the next block having seen how quickly Grenfell went up.

 

Go on Peaky lad...I said it was fishy when I woke this morning.. a blaze like that AFTER a refurb... those materials should be 100% flame ******ant etc.. building regs... and who's ever heard of a fridge freezer exploding?... no, me neither.
