100's? Seems ****ing mental mate.

There's no logic there, Sam Allardyce remained a hot favourite despite distancing himself from the job yet Advocaat drifted out to silly odds.

I agree mate it's mental, but after he turned it down most bookies took him off the list and few put him out to silly odds.

John O'Shea reacts to head coach's return.

John O'Shea has paid tribute to Dick Advocaat following the Dutchman's Wearside return.

The head coach moved to the Stadium of Light in March following the departure of former Chelsea midfielder Gus Poyet.

He came, he saw, he conquered.

And now, following an initial decision to retire from club management, he's back, with the Dutchman putting pen to paper on a new one-year deal ahead of the 2015-16 season.

O'Shea is currently preparing for Republic of Ireland's friendly against England on Sunday, but speaking exclusively to safc.com the captain hailed Advocaat's return.

This is a great first signing for the club.

- O'Shea on Advocaat.

“The boss came in last season and lifted everybody at the club – players, staff and fans,” said the skipper. “He got the best out of everybody, giving the team the confidence and belief that we could stay in the top flight.

"He brought a lot of experience and knowledge to the club.”

He continued: “His CV speaks for itself and he has achieved so much in football so it’s great that he is at Sunderland.

“He knows the club, what is needed and how we can push onto the next level. The fans love him too so I’m sure it will be a season that we can all look forward to.

“We all know there is a lot of work to be done over the summer and with new faces added during pre-season we can all push on together.

“This is a positive time for everybody associated with SAFC.”

Giaccherini hails Advocaat

Italian international praises head coach.

Emanuele Giaccherini believes Dick Advocaat played a ‘fundamental’ role in keeping Sunderland in the Barclays Premier League.

Advocaat initially turned down the opportunity to remain at the club following the end of the 2014-15 season, but on Thursday the Dutchman signed a one-year deal on Wearside.

And Giaccherini, who is currently away with Italy as Antonio Conte’s side continue their UEFA Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, hailed the 67-year-old’s impact.

“He was fundamental to everything we achieved last year.

“When he arrived he brought experience and he knew what we needed to survive; he gave us what he needed to stay in the Barclays Premier League.”

He continued: “I knew a lot about him because of his record, it’s one of the best in the world. I had never met him as a person but I knew how good it would be to have him.

“I was recovering in Italy but I came back two weeks after he arrived. He called me into his office and was sensational with me, I spoke with him and he was so impressive.

"He is a very, very good manager.”

Good ****. Great manager. Makes this league better.

And since I have to watch you mackems play because youre our rivals, I hope you will at least start playing some half decent football at least.

Not sure if Brolly can make a difference, but things are already looking up for both our clubs.

****ing brilliant! Explains the silence I suppose. Although I'm sure I could get my Mrs to send me back to work in way less than two weeks!
