Why is it only now we are hearing of him? It's always the likes of Tommy Smith, Graeme Sounness and Pat Nevin we heard of as being hard men, never Billy.

Seven years in black and amber but no photos or anecdotes?

He was very effective for a couple of years for us as a target man and aerial threat.

Shame he now seems to be remembered as some hard man freak show.

Noel Blake of PFC quietened him down first home game of 85/86 season.

Astute piece of business to sell him when we did at peak price.

Which will come as a shock to one particular intelligent, witty, erudite, mild mannered Scotsman amongst the three.

On the other hand however, Pat Nevin will no doubt be saying 'Did ya spill my pint, ya ****a? Too right, I'm a ****ing hard man. You startin' summut?'
