rooney is a... aham... spureb player i nthe no 10 slot... and will drop off. he will also play form left to right while sturrdige likes right to left. I predict fabuulous things on the rare occasions england actually ge tthe ball to them in between defending like mad. In short welbeck is pretty average
Oh ay swarbs, he was standing on the line to put in Gerrard's superb (albeit deflected) cross for that one! the same game that we'd been waiting for him to come back from suspension - don't get me going on the FA's double standards there - and he was ****e. Even ****er in the next game against Italy. Sorry, and I hope I'm proved wrong tonight, but at international level he's been crap for a few years. Now wellbeck - I disagree with most of my fellow reds in this thread. He scores more goals for England than United (that goal against Sweden was 100% meant), and he reminds me of Andy Cole in his movement; he absolutely pulls defences to bits (as does Studge). Nah, Wellbeck and Studge for me.
To be fair, he hasn't been given that much of a chance yet has he? Not being given game time at Chelsea and City was always going to make it difficult for him to get noticed for England. It's only this calendar year that he's begun to show how good he can be. Also, his alleged bad attitude seems to have softened so perhaps that was frustration due to being perpetually sidelined? We'll see how he reacts when something happens to piss him off. Rooney is a great player but can be anonymous occasionally, and his temper will always threaten to let him down. I still think he's an automatic choice if fit though. I haven't seen much of Wellbeck but, club rivalry aside, he's always looked promising to me and he's seems to be putting a few away for England recently. I want Sturridge to play for his own sake, but like many others I'd rather he didn't run the risk of injury when he's such an important player for us at the moment. Have I ever mentioned I hate international breaks, btw?
I'd be playing Studge and Welbeck up top with Rooney in behind. Sturridge and Welbeck will both run the channels and drop deep if needed. We'd just lack the width on the right flank - Baines will always be available on the left. I guess Townsend would be on the right of the midfield 3 to make up for that. And **** me, if Jones plays tonight Hodgson continues to confirm he has no clue. I know Johnson is injured and all, but he's garbage.
