I didn't realise that he is only 23. At first I thought that it was too much to pay, but on reflection, I don't see anyone nearly as good that we could get for the same price. Also, £1.5m is nothing compared to however much we get from promotion.
Elmo is a season deal (?), with a clause to sign if we go up apparently... So why rush the deal? He's here and why not let Sunderland take the risk should he get crocked and we can refuse the option... Bigger fish to fry right now in the transfer market.
http://www.itv.com/sport/football/update/2013-01-01/meyler-set-for-huddersfield-move/ Looks like Huddersfield have stepped in....
Big news, with meyler staying in the side I would say that would improve our chances of going up immensely
£1million would be better than 1.5 but I must admit the guy is very solid. He could be our rock in midfield for the next 5 years. He brings something new to the midfield. He's young, he's fit, he's very strong and he can contribute to goals. He has a similar style of play to fletcher/carrick or fellaini... I'm not suggesting he is as good but he plays that role. Of breaking attacks up, then bursting with strength forward. And if he can contribute with brilliant headers like vs leeds then he will be a great attribute for set pieces. Very pleased with this news! We have too much going for us. We have a respected manager with lots of links, a good bunch of lads with good harmony and most importantly we are 2nd in the league. This should all help tremendously when it comes to signing players
Have you not read the link - it's Burnsy's tweet, regurgitated on the Huddersfield site for some reason. So unless Bruce has left us for Huddersfield as well, I wouldn't worry
1.5mil for Meyler is a total steal. He's quality as he's proven. He has an eye for goal as well as a work-rate second to none. We've been missing this type of player since Ashbee went. He's young and hungry to impress. I couldn't be any happier with this news, fantastic.
I don't think he's the Ashbee type player. He's a box-to-box midfielder who actually has an impact inside both boxes unlike say Quinn who covers the ground but his impact is all in midfield. We've mised this type of player for a long time.
