Playing in a 4-4-2! Defoe can play in a 4-4-2. Not in his managers preferred tactics which work better with the right players. He made nothing happen against the mags. The big lad headed it and he put his foot through it. He didn't have to make the goal he had to shoot. Great goal but made for him by others and finished by him. Watch the game v West Ham last year where he had only the keeper to beat and blazed it high and wide! Where was that magic then? Great strike v the mags but it's pointless when you miss the easy ones. he had opportunities to shoot at 0-0 on Saturday but he failed. I know he's a goalscorer but he's no good in the 4-3-3 as you need a footballer playing up there. He also had some great service at 0-0 against Leicester but fluffed his lines there too! He's 32 and, if there is a £6m offer on the table, we'd be silly not to sell. He doesn't suit the style we should be playing. @commachio1 i don't have a "blind dislike" for him. I just have seen him play crap twice this season (he's not the only one) poor first touch and poor decision making. He scored... Great.. So did fletcher and I think he's been ****e too! And both scored when it truly wasn't important. If Defoe had put any of the 3 or 4 chances away at 0-0 this is a different conversation and we are probably toasting at least one win! No good only scoring when the game is lost
On the news this morning, Defoe- - ''-wants to play in an upfront role'' - '' anything can happen in the transfer window'' - '' it's not up to me to decide my future'' So if the Bournemouth bid is true, sounds like he'd be happy to move on.Or, maybe it's more a case of be happy to get away.
I just read a story and looked at it the same way - he didn;t say "I don't want to go anywhere" but he did say "I want to score 20 goals for Sunderland" to a fan on instatwat or twattergram or some ****e! We don;t need players who don;t want to be here any more than players who aren't good enough!
And so more than possible a media/agent rumour/comment that sows ideas into peoples heads. I remember when Ian Rush returned from Italy. He said '' I never wanted to go to Italy, but I thought Liverpool wanted to sell me'' Liverpool said '' we didn't want to sell him but we thought he wanted a transter''
Sadly, I also remember things from well before Ian Rush ! Pity some of yesterdays things are a mystery though ! Just checked the date- it was 87/88 --- and saw his famous quote of ''It was like living in a foreign country''
Hahaha! I remember that mate - one of the best quotes of all time - thick scouse/welsh* (Delete as appropriate) twat!
