Can someone tell me when Bart last had a great game for saints???, since injury at Newcastle nearly 6 years ago!!!! Granted his opportunity's have been limited since then and he was brilliant prior to that. I can't recall one??? I agree with a previous post which states he may have a temperament problem, apparantly brilliant in training but can't seem to take that ability onto the pitch when it matters and he's under pressure to perform.

He played well when Davis was out injured for a few weeks during our first season in League one.

After all these years, and bearing in mind Kelvin,s age, he should have been pushing for the shirt some time ago. Face the facts, he is never going to displace Kelvin in the foreseeable future & needs to move on. He may well have been nervous but his total performance was a nightmare & made the whole defence really jittery. He totally lacks vision & judgement, is a poor kicker of the ball and is frankly not fit for purpose.
A back up keeper looks a real necessity to me.

PS what was up with Kevin? - clearly something last minute as we didn,t have a second keeper on the bench. Anyone know?

He played 6 while Kelvin was injured....the first being at Hartlepool in Nov' 09, that was also his 1st league appearance in 2 years!!!!!! Think he needs games and League 1 is probably not a bad place for him to get them...not being sarcastic when I say that

I looked at the match recorded on my Skyplus, and looking at Bart in the 2nd half he looked a bit unwell, whether the gaff was the cause, I don't know, but later in the half he made two really good interceptions and looked a lot brighter and up for it, sadly Blackpool didn't test him to find out if he was still up for it, or was it the defence doing their job maybe?

Yes he had a shocker but hopefully Nigel will sort him out during the week. From what I saw he seemed to have a problem taking the ball. For some reason he wasn't catching today. It looked like he was trying to trap balls with his chest before grabbing them. That will probably be the worst game he ever plays in his career and he only let two in and we still nicked a point.

    Give the lad a chance.

Getting on the back of a goalie is never a good idea..have to say the fans were pretty sensible yesterday..no point in making him worse. He was tense and then his confidence went..he was doing too much thinking and not enough reflex work. A couple of easy successful saves at the beginning and it could all have been different. Very hard to come in cold into a successful team...that can be the advantage of having an ageing but experienced keeper as back up. Imagine Kelv as our back-up keeper.

I sometimes ask the question as to how much not having a reserve team effects the club as a whole. Players coming back from a long layoff take a lot longer it seems to me before they are able to resume full time duties and are match fit. Younger players are going out on loan to get a game. Mind you whether that will help Bart or any other goalkeeper is another question. Seeing as normally they are on the bench........No easy answer really is there?

This is probably the worse he has performed for Saints by far!
He had a great game last year vs Man Utd and
I will always rember his spectacular flying save to his left in that game
You have to say he must be the most patient player in the world as he warms the bench week in and week out without complaint. He always appears to be so supportive of Kevin too. I take my hat off to him.
    He needs more game time

Part of me hopes he gets another game and plays a blinder, but the other part hopes it's never necessary. Our defence is quite good but not brilliant.. they can't cover for a goalie finding his feet. I do sympathise with Bart..I really do...but we can't afford too many slip ups this season.

He's paid as a goal keeper. He is supposed to be a professional.

I don't agree that we should feel sorry for him or he's just nervous. Millions would give their right arm to be a professional footballer.

They're paid 1000's to take the pressure. Bring a nurse in A&E is pressure.

Poor show Bart. Hang your head in shame.

I like Bart, he's always been a reliable number 2, but man, what on earth was going through his mind with a couple of those attempted saves! It was like he wasn't allowed to use hands.
Lucky for him we have Nigel in charge, he'll get his head right once again.

As someone else has said it seemed pretty short notice that Davis was injured, so maybe Bart only had a short time knowing he was starting and might be one of those players who likes to know a couple of days in advance if he is starting or not so he can prepare and get his nerves under control (Rob Green anyone?)

It was in injury time they took him off, not as if there was still 20 minutes to go. Just another tatic from Blackpool to waste a little bit more time, which of course largely contributed to the large amount of injury time which Holloway was amazingly shockled to see!

Not much point in giving your right arm if you want to be a goalkeeper<laugh> Don't think there is anything we can say that will make Bart feel better or worse..it's how he responds to this performance that is important.
