Rubbish mate. The acts that win are placed by producers and agent. I know this for certain as I have worked with some of the agents. People used to go to local pubs and clubs and find talent. My mate is a far better pianist than the lad that won it. I'm a far better singer than half of the ones that get anywhere near the semi finals in X factor. Not being big headed but I know I'm better and have a better voice than a lot of them. I went to an audition and they put through a group of lads who were terrible for the judges. I didn't get past the producers. Because I'm a very good singer but I have nothing else. Average looking, no back story, nothing endearing to them. Talent means nothing
So what is the alternative if they took these shows off air, back to pubs and clubs? Sounds like a backward step to me. Talent shows have been on TV since I was a boy and have given many acts, some of which are world famous, fame that they would not have achieved without the talent show platform.
But the old ones used actual talent. That's my point. New shows like bgt, the voice, X factor etc are all set up. Shaheed Jafagoli sounded an average singer at best when he did his first song at X factor. I would've been X' doff the stage, but they set him up with that second Michael Jackson song and he sounded amazing. They knew that already. The acts that win and get to the final are placed in the show. Honey G, Wagner, that stupid cow playing do music the other night? What "talent" do they have that makes them better than someone like me who can play and sing better than any if them (and rap better than honey g). ? Contrived and set up. It might make pubs and clubs busier if they went back to the old way! But it would also stop manufactured rubbish. My friend went to audition for X factor. Turned down the audition as you have to give up all of your song writing rights to any song you've written ever and sign them over to the company. Even if you don't make it to any of the shows!!
BGT is 'entertainment' for people who never leave the house. As Marcus has said there are many better people around who wouldn't lower themselves to appear on such a shyte show. 3 year old magicians, comedians making jokes about slavery and fat lads doing Robbie Williams impersonations. FFS, it's a freak show for all the freaks sitting watching with a pizza on their lap
They keep putting up trailers during the adverts so it's hard to miss the shyte ..... a few seconds is all that's needed to see how dismal it is. I saw one clip of the audience giving a standing ovation to some dope who's gran had died Both of mine have died .........I must be a superstar by now
I'm amazed people still watch these shows, I used to when they were new and fairly interesting but to stick with them for all these years must take some dedication.
I love watching BGT and X-Factor, tbh. When the bairn stops over there's nowt better than just sitting watching them having a giggle. Family fun and if it was that bad it wouldn't pull in millions of viewers.
I've seen a few and they were all basically the same, sob story, person with dog, edgy magician, little girl who sings like a grown up, stench of a fix hanging over the whole thing. I did use to like them to be fair but I've done my time.
Aye you're right, I quickly got bored of the X Factor when a) they cut back on the nutters b) they made the few existing nutters go straight on the big stage to be laughed at, I'm not sure why but it was funnier when they were making arses of themselves in the audition rooms.
Totally. We all can make ourselves look daft. ( cue the chuckle quad). But they are more entertaining. Dont want to see perfect. Want to see mistakes, gaffs, **** ups..
