Not sure I personally know of anyone who has used a food bank, but then that’s not the sort of thing people shout from the roof tops is it? The fact is people do use them; lots of people. See the link I posted above, for evidence of working people using food banks.
I don't need to mate, you've just explained it well. You don't know anyone, Bezos has them all driving white vans, or working in huge depots.
For below minimum wage with no holiday pay or sick pay. Not sure how great that is tbh. Plus, in a crowded market like parcel deliveries, the bad employer often undercuts the good - if they're allowed to.
Funnily Amazon pay above min wage, Plus massive expansion. In a time when some need food banks This Amazon bloke and others are creating 1000s of jobs.
Yep, if was so **** you would think all the workers would move to better jobs that others are creating
Pretty sure Amazon employe their delivery drivers as freelancers on piece work, so it often works out well below minimum wage.
How so? I'd imagine a lot of workers are via agencies or they seem to be the one's advertising the jobs. If so then your holiday pay would be accrued through the agency. These look like agency jobs to me... Years ago I used to hire agency employees, they were always paid holiday by the agency as they are on their payroll.
Exactly, the only thing they don't get is sick pay, that's statutory which is fook all I believe. That's why they try and get moved on to the company books.
I'm not gonna harp on mate, since Feb and the first lockdown, we've had hundreds of people waltzing around the place.. Thankfully most have come and gone. I don't want to gemeralise, but i wouldn't take a younger person on, in a heavy manual job.
depends if you want to give the the chance to get used to it, you've been hoying crates of cabbages for ages, so your body is used to it
It's a number game... BTW they can't even lift cabbages, let alone anything heavier. Actual work isn't suited to most of them. Hence why we've had hundreds through...But some do. We've had 2 kept on since March, cos they wanted a job. Not much out of hundreds.
