OK, some stats I've just worked out for you:

** Arsenal are unbeaten this season when Mertesacker & Koscielny start together (but have only won 3 of the 7 games)

** Win % By Pairing:
TV & Kos (5) - 40%
Kos & Merts (7) - 43%
TV & Merts (22) - 50%

** Loss % By Pairing:
TV & Kos (5) - 40%
Kos & Merts (7) - 0%
TV & Merts (22) - 27%

Sure but we have also conceded the least on average with TV and Merts.

To Be honest , I don't rate any of our Center Backs.

Mertesacker has no pace at all. Kos lacks composure at times, He's error prone (OGs, rash tackles etc). and doesn't read the offside trap particularly. Vermaelan gets caught out of position and isn't that dominant in the air.

Yeah I would agree with that all three are flawed.

1. Merts - Slow.
2. Koscielney - Poor in the air, Lightweight.
3.Vermealen - Caught out of position far to often.

To be honest though all three are good players. I would be interested to see how we defend with a TOP class defensive midfielder in the team.

Great thread, OP. I agree, we are an infinitely better team without Thomas Vermaelen.
