Well, the Black and Amber was just that but lost out cos it was small and easily missed. The owner has taken over the Botanic and has painted it the walls Black and Amber, with lotsa memorabilia there. The honeymoon effect is not a factor as the old B+A regulars have moved to the Botanic. The previous owners probably got cold feet as the Botanic is off the in-crowd track but it is a great pub for footie fans.

Come in on Saturday and give it a try. There is a corner in black and white for the eggers but it is Tigers through and through :)

The beer is kinda Worthington, Coors, guinness etc but I drank DarkRoom or Dark Doom last night really smooth real ale - 2.60 a pint.

It was meant to be our place to start with, granted welcoming away fans but all the memorabilia about the place. Who ever the guy was that was running it (board level not manager) had a thing about having music acts and making it more diverse, even though Graham who actually knew how to run a place disagreed. The place was losing money/being subsisdised, and then Graham left and they ended up with someone in charge that when he was once told the pipes needed cleaning because the beer was coming through crap went and got a cloth out and wiped them down.

Depends what you view the problem as. Nobody ever bothered to ask him to do anything again.

I don't know any of the details - it is good though that the pub is up and running again.

Re DoomBar - it might have been called that - all I know is that it tasted good :)

It was on Spring Bank half way between the Hole in the Wall and the Tap and Spile (both of which are having difficulty staying open) it was just about the friendliest pub I' ve ever used - hopefully its new incarnation in the Botanic will be just as good

I popped in briefly before and after and was pleasantly surprised.

Fair play to them I hope it works out longer term.
