Ridiculous. I’m sure disclaimers would have been signed before joining the show.

Like this response amongst many. Plain stupid from Tweddle.

This seems a bit of a strange thing to do, as said I am sure she knew the risks when she agreed to do the program, and as said there will be disclaimers in the contract. But now she will be seen as a moaner, which is likely to affect any TV work going forward, a bit short-sighted IMO, but it smells of lawyers persuading her it is the right thing to do:emoticon-0164-cash:.

I agree in principle but also think it would be wrong to create an environment which made it difficult to pursue genuine cases of neglect.

If it's genuine then they shouldn't have anything to fear in regards to winning etc. Judges and us as a society on a whole need to stop making it so easy for idiots to make a quick ££ and also make stupid people who do stupid things and things they shouldnt be doing responsible for their own actions and not just sue others

But to determine whether it’s genuine the judge must listen to, & consider, all the evidence. If they’re not genuine the case will be dismissed at some point.

The problem lies with unscrupulous law firms who chase down & then convince people that they have genuine cases.

I’ve had a lot of dealings with the NHS over the last five years. In that time individual errors by different people at different hospitals & GP surgeries has led to me needing further surgery, more treatment, having a Cardiac Arrest, having a faulty, as well as a wrong, device inserted inside me, diagnosing me with a serious illness but forgetting to tell me for over 18 months which led to further complications both physically & mentally as well as leaving me a small fortune out of pocket.

Would I consider suing them? No chance. On each occasion the person involved has apologised, that’s enough for me. No wise arsed, two bob lawyer could convince me different. It’s a value, principle & respect thing.

Shows exactly the kind of person you are and I hope everything has worked out and your better or as better as can be...

As your rightly point to it can't be one broom covers all, but if a person and or law firm is shown to be just clearly be chasing money, then maybe the should have to automatically have to pay the defendant damages etc...

I echo that, I worked at the NHS a few years ago and did an audit of claims for neglect. In a very large proportion of cases the legal fees were enormous and in some cases many times the compensation being sought. The only real winner in all of this are the sh*tty lawyers, no wonder they beg people to make claims!
