I cringe with betting really. I never had a problem with it until I moved over here.

It's so ingrained in sports and life over here that it's inescapable. I know several people in their mid 20s who've got major major betting problems.

A guy I know sold his house, pocketed the profit of 80k and lost it in a few months on the horse racing.

Great in moderation but the addictive nature of it for some people is a ****ing nightmare.

I don't think gambling should be approaching customers to be honest. I think they should have to seek it out.

It's just as damaging as booze, drugs and cigs on a person's finances and wellbeing. Really should be far better regulated. They don't talk about sports over here without mentioning odds and it's filtered down to kids.

    Massive epidemic.

Like I say. Nowt against people doing it but high pressure sales tactics in repetitive advertising before the watershed is just dangerous over here.

I've got exactly this problem with my sons. Their lives are being wrecked by their insatiable appetite for gambling. It's just so easy these days with the plethora of gambling websites and apps that are being advertised everywhere on TV, radio and social media.

    So what is the answer?

    I have absolutely no idea.....

Heartbreaking mate. I feel incredibly grateful that I'm just not that way inclined for some reason.

The only times I've ever done it, losing felt far more negative than winning felt positive.

I presume the government will pull their fingers out like they have with smoking and drinking as regards to advertising. No way should ads be appearing all over the place. Just makes it far too tempting.
