Not sure if the Shed end had them, and I remember that open terrace on the side looked pretty good. But the away end had those awful pens with huge fences with the folded over spikes at the top. It meant that standing on a curved terrace, not only did you have to peer through the big fence at the front, but often you were trying to look through the fences in the pens too. That coupled with the distance from the pitch made for a crap view which ultimately affected the atmosphere at SB
^^Goes to away days to sit down I like Molyneux tbf it's a cracking little ground. Awful away end though.
Best - San Siro (even though we lost 1-0) Worst - The Den (it’s the 21st Century, but no one told Millwall)
Trivia question for @Chief but I will give you all a chance to answer too. It was when I first ever started going to away games as a mere lad. This particular date, my travels were to Plymouth Argyle for a League Game, the theatre of greens rather than the theatre of dreams. On attending that lower league game, we were all issued with a voucher, that voucher entitled you to buy a Manchester United ticket for a European Game. All the Touts were out in force from Manchester to try and buy the vouchers, that Gills supporters naturally wouldn't want. I held out to the highest value, got my travel, match ticket and expenses all paid for that day. But the question is why were Manchester United tickets available via a Voucher system in Plymouth of all places!? No google cheating
Hooligan times. Been an interesting read this thread, especially Piskie going on about old times I will say this though, i always liked going to Notts Forest for dome reason. But been to many little ****holes, and they were usually the best days. Prem grounds are stale.
The City ground at Forest is a wonderful stadium. Right on the banks of the Trent, went up there a couple of times in the late 80's. Forest were a very decent side back then too. Would love to see them back in the top flight again.
United had a serious hooligan problem and were made to play the game at Plymouth. My old man was there in business at the time and was sat next to Alan Ball on a train.
I was chuckling reading piskies posts man. Every ****ing weekend man, going to different ****holes and not knowing what to expect. But i used to love going to Upton Park.
Ah **** me that was an experience. Half of them were human pitbulls and the rest were ****y Essex soul boys who clearly knew the pitbulls. Great thing about being a Watford fan was noone really cared in London. Bit hairy getting back to stations and coaches up north sometimes though.
That's exactly what it was like. Scary at times, but great times. But I was young then, so didn't give a ****.
If the Olympic 100 Metre final was run with a load of Luton fans stood behind the blocks I'd have beaten Carl Lewis!
