British sitcoms wipe the floor with American sitcoms. American sitcoms need punchline to all their jokes whereas in British sitcoms the actors can make you laugh with a look. They are so much more intelligently written in my opinion.
At least no one mentioned How I Met Your Mother aka Friends Lite. If they had I would have blown a gasket.
it truly is terrible. i didnt like the guy when he was in scrubs..but now hes in a obvious rip off of malcolm in the middle its even worse <stonetodeath>
Hmm, okay: British humor as a general rule is better than American humor. But the best American sitcoms are better than any British sitcoms I've seen, maybe because I've seen so many more, maybe because the sitcoms I've seen that do something new have all been American. John Cleese is probably funnier than any American, but Fawlty Towers is so formulaic it's distracting. I think I liked the one with the priest exiled to the gloomiest island in the Atlantic best. The best? Seinfeld. Scrubs pushes it because humor fades fast with time. Though the Bob Newhart show (when he was a psychiatrist) is right up there, along with a few other seventies shows, especially Taxi. I agree Friends wasn't so great. Actually, Lisa Kudrow was funny, Matt LeBlanc was fairly funny, the two other dudes were intensely annoying, and the two other chicks were neither good nor bad.
