to JD.......its because the amount of effort is always the first/last thing remembered when that player turns into a flop!.It leaves more than egg on the managers face as thats the kinda job managers are paid millions to do!.Ask Fergie after the Taibi affair!..the directors still hate him for it,it set them back £Millions!.
lol just saying football long since a money game now, every buck counts and that Barmby came offering his still premiere league talent to us for less than Whitmore was on.... thats when we really couldnt afford it!.so no not good signing more like snapping his hands off!...now citys work with Altidore really was first class effort..however,alas not to be!.
Now you mention it, there's another player I'd have had ahead of France. Ashbee and Keates was probably the most complementary partnership we had in midfield while Ashbee was here.
Ryan France and Sam Collins were at the KC for last nights game, nice to see some old boys still taking an interest in us(I expected to see Ash there too, but he didn't show).
I'd pick Turner and Deano in the last twenty years, both went from unproven players to Premiership class footballers. Myhill came up just short of Premiership class for me even though he did have a few great games in the top league, the Spurs match comes to mind when he was unbeatable, one of the best performances by a City goalkeeper ever.
I can't believe I'm saying this after thinking Dudgeon should be in the team all year... but my pick would be Andy Dawson! 10 great years at the club after signing from Scunny (extra points) and a real club ambassador! Plus after seeing Ash in Starbucks the other day, he'd also get my vote. Top man.
No surprise there then, Ash won... http://www.hullcityafc.net/page/NewsDetail/0,,10338~2660068,00.html
