More recent ones include Walcott's chip goal against Luton and Dyer's I think it was against Crewe where he was on the by line and managed to nutmeg the player and run around him and retrieve the ball before placing it in the net. However, Stern Johns goal against Bunley, where he brought it down on his chest turned and fired home from almost thirty yards out was amazing too. Going back a bit further Le Tissiers chip of Schmeicle must be up there. I am sure there are others, probably better but these are the ones I remember...
What about the mighty Marsden's dribble against Ipswich too!! I think we need to compile the top 100...
That goal posted above against Liverpool in 1982, but also Danny Wallace's overhead kick alos against Liverpool and after a great build up, and this season against Boro.
Yep, that was the "Valentine's Day Massacre" - great game. Matty hat-trick with two penalties. The first of which he actually didn't connect properly with but it was probably the least saveable penalty he ever hit.
Everyone has watched LeGod's goals many times, but James Beattie scored some real crackers too.....I like the goal against Sunderland at 1:10, and the one against Chelsea at 9:57.
Yeah agree with this, he went thru 2 players twice! Andy Townsend was one of them. Then had a grass cutter. Pure skill. The 3rd goal was a loop from nearly the half way line and went in off the post.
Taking MLT out of the equation (although his famous "up and over 2 players" goal vs Ncastle was my fav) Lambert's 3rd vs MK was incredible Pahars nutmegging Staam (best cb in the world at the time) at OT was unbelievable Delap's overhead kick vs Spurs Oakley vs Pompey just because he was Saints through and through and i bloody hate Pompey! Fav goal of this season was Lallana's against Leeds. Class!
My favourite goal has to be Rasiaks goal in the 88th minute away at derby in the play off, ive never gone so crazy in my life.
Thanks for all these memories guys. One that really sticks with me is being in the Milton in April 89 when Razor confidently tucking away a penalty against Newcastle United in only his sixth game for the club, helping us earn our first victory in 18 matches and starting our annual climb away from the relegation zone. Went loopy and it was like a huge weight was lifted. Bet FLT and TSS remember it well!?!
Chris Baird thunderbolt against Cardiff in the 06/07 season, a game where we were two up and drew 2-2... One which stands out for me is Stern John's first in the game against Sheffield United. He was through one on one, and that short space of time seemed to go incredibly slowly, then after a long gasp from the crowd he rifled it into the net to out us ahead! What an incredible day!
I'm surprised that this goal hasn't been mentioned, the best "team goal" I've seen for a while, especially for the fact the fans were shouting "Ole!" throughout and it led to a goal!
I mentioned it as my favourite along with it being very bad indeed that it didn't receive more coverage!
Totally agree. Not dissimilar from that wonderful Channon goal. I remember being unable to scream for about 10 seconds. It just took my breath away. I have been known to get quite emotional at games and this was one of those moments. I watched over and over on player and bored every one of my mates with it! But like someone said, that Norwich game was great, but imagine how it will be when we go back up. Bring it on. Time to drink up and start my stroll to SMS. UTS
