This is a rather odd post. Why do you feel the need to do this? Here we have an inoffensive thread giving poster's a chance to have some light hearted interaction during the close-season and you decide to poo poo it? I recall that you also chose to do this on one of the cricket threads. If you don't have an interest or enjoy certain threads, it's probably better to stay off of them instead of trying to wind people up.

Being an old Sydney boy, here are a few I used to frequent when I was younger.
They are down at the Rocks in Sydney. Lovely character about them.......... good atmosphere, good food & of course, good beer.
The Lord Nelson is certainly worth the walk up the hill. Fact is, it's more trickier walking back down the slope with a full load on board, not that I would ........

This exactly what I was doing nines...it was meant to be light hearted. I was giving my opinion on the worst kind of pubs. That was one of the questions that the OP asked. Sorry if you and others took it as a wind up. Just giving an opinion that's all. We cannot all like the same things. Apologies.:emoticon-0150-hands

Well, you clearly don't like them, but don't feel able or willing to give a reason. Oh well.

By the same token chum, you obviously don't like the cyber me (as if I care!) or the Word Association thread, but I don't pester you for a reason. Oh well.

One of my fav pub experiences was a few years back. I had just completed the Syndey Bridge walk and went to a bar very near to the entrance of the bridge walk (cannot remember name as it was 7 years ago). I do remember if was St Patricks night and I was having a well earnt pint of Black Gold (Guiness). Two young lasses were walking around with shots, and as the next day was my last in Syndey I asked both which would be the best beach to go. One said Manly, the other Bondi!!! So next day it was a bus trip around Syndey and I saw Bondi Beach from a bus, and came back and caught the ferry to Manly and had a fish and chip supper. Happy Days.......7 days there was never long enough and I will be returning one day

I've definitely drunk in the Fortune of War Aussie. Just down the road there is a nice place where you pay a flat price for your meal, pick the meat or seafood you want and cook it yourself on the grill, with advice from the staff. Nice idea. The Rocks is a touristy area, but good fun.

No need to make a song and dance about it. If you are too embarrassed/ashamed to explain your aversion to alcohol that's fine.

.

Great to hear 'sb' & 'ninj'............... Yes, the Rocks is a great little area and just down from the 'Fortune Of War' ........... just under the Harbour Bridge is the 'Harbour View Hotel'. In the past, many years ago, that was the place we'd finish a George street pub crawl from Central Station. Years ago, there were many pubs along the way. Nowadays, they've nearly all gone. Just up the other way, heading back into the city, on the corner is 'The Orient' ............ another old pub with good catering, etc.
( I think might be talking about this one 'sb' )
Of course, if you take that side street, it will take you up to the Lord Nelson .............. definitely worth the walk.
Cheers,
Aussie.
