I don't understand why people say, if they go to matches they have to buy a programme. For one, you get all the info from the screen on whose playing and you avoid forking over £3 for a book full of ****e advertisements and a few awful columns where they interview City players about their favourite colour. Get to the match City need the place filling up. Empty seats makes us look bad.
The Station on Bev Road is a good pub to watch football in. But unfortunately, they haven't got a telly.
It's also good for cheap bacon and cheese if you don't mind the fact it's been transported from the nearest supermarket down some skag heads under crackers.
I'd forgotten about that. I've just had a chuckle to myself, remembering the pissed up old bloke who once came in there trying to flog our football team a smashed chandelier.
If I never bought programmes then how would I know all of my useless Corry Evans facts??? Literally the best/worst interview I've ever read; was about 2/3 years ago and he answers all the questions like a 12 year old.
I don't think saying you're not going to the game because you can't be arsed to freeze and the fact you cannot drink and watch the game was ever going to get a decent response. Get yourself to the game. I am currently moving house and cannot afford to go but I'd do anything to get there. GET TO THE GAME AND CHEER ON THE TIGERS'
I love going to the Clarendon before and after a game. It has almost been a Pilgrimage for me and the lads, I'd always go there. The Tiger Lair is strange and seems like a place for the CI lot
Blue Heaven (Anchor Inn being its real name) stood opposite the Fire Station on Southcoates Lane and has been demolished and replaced by a block of apartments. Highland Laddie is and always has been on Southcoates Lane at the corner of Newbridge Road. But as OLM says get your arses to the game.
I go in Old Zoological sometimes before the kick off and it usually has the early live match on tell, so now reason why ours won't be on there. Good pub, other than when someone bit the bouncers ear off last week.
Elderly folks apartments. I grew up on Southcoates Lane, but in the 16 years I have been in Lincoln the Reindeer (great pub) is now closed down, the Anchor (Blue Heaven) as stated is also gone. The Trinity Club opposite is a complete **** hole. The Rave used to serve the best feckin pint of Tetley Mild on the planet. On my journeys over from Lincoln to see family and do gigs I pop in just to re-acquait myself with that mothers milk! Oh well it'll have to be the National before and after the game then. Chazz has suggested that I wind up the TWS supporting barman Dave...more sport then!!! EDIT: Any suggestions for good TWS wind up lines?
What happened to the Red Hell( or in Hullese, Red 'El) near the corner of Preston Rd/ Marfleet Lane? Was taken by my mother-in law when I visited in 1977.She lived in Marfleet Lane. I am sure I was taken to the Blue Heaven at that time too.
Red Hell ? The pub corner of Preston Road and Marfleet lane is the Crown Inn I believe (not to be confused with Crown on Holderness Road opposite Summergangs) A staunch Reevers pub i think - never ever been in - still there though. Reindeer has planning permission now for conversion into flats I think. PS can't stand to watch City in a pub (and would only do so if we were away - Brizzle and Brighton this season) due to the fact you tend to be surrounded by dickheads that are either that are (a) eggchasers (b) PL plastics or (c) a combination of both.
did you play for Station fc on a sunday 70's/80's? - played for Bonny Boat / Old English Gentleman & always regarded them as rivals for some reason..pipped us to league 4 title one time. decent lads
Over to my husband..... " The pub there was known to locals as Red Hell when I lived in Marfleet Lane as a kid(1940's). I left Hull in 1966 and cannot remember it's real name as I always called it Red 'El."
Mrs. BMB: The Crown was the Red Hell (Red 'ell) and the Anchor was the Blue Heaven (Blue 'eaven). Does anyone know how they got those nicknames? Could it be political?
