Not arguing, just interested how that proves gerrards a great player. It seems to me that you lost the ability to fully challenge for fourth when Alonso left and torres was playing ****. I'm sorry but I don't think your logic makes any sense. There are 6 teams in the prem who stand out above the others (chelsea, liverpool, arsenal, tottenham, man city and man u) and will continue to do so unless another team gets really rich or there is terrible management in one of the top 6 teams. You have finished in 7th place for the 2nd year running which in my opinion is as plausibly bad as you will get, i see no sign of Gerrard's mighty intervention there. He hasn't dragged you forward in the last 2 season like RvP or Tevez for example have done for us by winning games almost individually like he used to. There are other arguments to say he is the best player in the premier league but I don't think this one stands.
overall,ide say its probably a straight fight between rooney and tevez. they are the heart and soul of any team they play in (when theyre on form,of course )

I would agree with Tevez. I honestly believe if it wasn't for him City would not have finished in the Top 4. It is strange when you hear him talk when he is off the pitch because his attitude on it is as good as I have ever seen from a player. He may well be off this summer anyway so van Persie when he is fit is the all round player, Rooney has it all as well but won't be a popular choice with opposition supporters. Dimitar Berbatov for me is the best techinical player in the league. Nothing he cannot do with the ball, only most of the time he will not! But his touch, control, skill is the best in the league for me. His finishing lets him down and of course his work rate.
Rooney by a country mile. He will play any position on the pitch. He's even covered left back for united in the past. Pace power vision great finisher amazing passing range change a game in an instant. Not afraid to get back and defend. Best player in the league by far.
