Same in Dubai. Anybody other than a native (unless you've got money) is treated like ****. The local construction workers (again from neighbouring countries and Pakistan) are treated like slaves.

There's a rule in Dubai that if you're a foreigner and you're involved in a car accident, it is immediately your fault regardless, by virtue of you being in the country. The rationale is that if you weren't there then the accident wouldn't have happened.

Legend has it that if a foreign construction worker dies on site in Dubai, they just stick him in the foundations.

Same in Saudi, mate. Their view, too. My stepbrother was working there as an air traffic controller. He got into an accident with some idiot who had no lights on. He went straight to his apartment, packed his stuff, and grabbed the first flight out - which happened to be going to Frankfort. Just had to get out, quick!..

I would recommend spending a week in Hong Kong. It's China but it's way less Chinese.

It's an amazing place, incredible. A week and you might just about do everything justice, there's too much to list to be honest. Just go, once in your lifetime.

I've spent two week long visits there, once when they were still our colony and one after they had 'left'. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Although I visited many countries when I worked in F1, the only place I really saw was South West Spain as the rest of the time you exist in a bubble cut off from local people. As I have always had an interest in ancient history the places I have enjoyed the nost are the countries in the Middle East where the early civilisation began. Jordan, Egypt Lebanon and Syria all have, or in some cases had fantastic monuments and you just had to marvel at the engineering involved in their construction. The local people there were always friendly and pleased that you were interested in their history. Unfortunately some of the buildings have been mindlessly destroyed now. Nowadays I concentrate on more recent history, Greece, Italy and Spain.

Best place in the world for me depends on who I'm with.

On a selfish level, Vegas, but the budget has to be generous, I can't think of a more miserable place to be if you're counting the pennies, and I'm not even a gambler.

In terms of beautiful scenery, landscape etc Whistler BC.

For family breaks, I really liked Playa Del Carmen.

Nowhere beats home though, good old Manchester, ave it!

I been there a few times and found it quite pleasant really, I guess the attitudes are changing these days and the arrogance of the money is probably wearing thin now.

Money corrupts men and they have way too much money!

Anywhere that a woman has to be modest with her dress code is a complete waste of my time, I wanna see them titties.

  14. I've not yet seen the Great Pyramid. I'm put off by the tales of woe that have been told to me by several people, who have visited Egypt.

I would also love to go and visit some of the great Inca sites in South America, such as the citadel at Machu Picchu, and some of the many Mayan temples and sacred sites across Mexico.

Historical sites in Egypt like the pyramids are well worth visiting but you'll get hassled by people trying to sell you stuff constantly. And when in the pyramid a guy stood with his hand out for tips on the way out. They expect to be tipped for everything so carry a load of small notes. Cairo is really busy and an intense place to be but definitely worth a visit.
