Nah, that's a cop out for me - it shows no awareness or vision. Some players have come under a lot of stick - Lovren and Mario, whilst Lallana is equally deserving IMO.
Its not a cop out, its a genuine reason why a pass wouldn't happen. Passing the way you face is part of the basics in football. He did have time to turn though (I already said this) Question; have you ever played football yourself to a decent standard? I'm not talking profession or even semi-professional, I'm talking a competitive eleven-a-side games? #justcurious #donthavetoanswer
It does seem that the main issue is DM and Gerrard not fitting the role. I think Rodgers see's this as he has been trying to play with 2 holding in a 4231. He does not seem prepared to drop Gerrard from the role all together, which is a major issue. I remember there being a lot of pressure on Dalglish to drop Carragher and it took him a bit to much longer to actually do so than it should have, but when he did it made a big difference. I feel Rodgers as at a similar turning point with Gerrard. It doesnt help that Gerrard is the captain...
Lol yes I have. Fair enough, he wasn't facing Moreno but come on - it's called having a mental picture of the pitch and what is going on. It's what the best players in the world do and that's the level I want our players to get to. But to say Lallana missed that opportunity because he was only looking at someone else just adds to a weakness in his game, and he's done it before as well - he does slow play down but masks it with a few nice looking flicks which don't amount to much. I've played competitive football, and I admit, I couldn't do things like that - hence why I'm sitting behind a computer
I think you've forgotten it was me that pointed out that missed pass to begin with Just saying that could be the reason. I think Brod set us up to be solid and told the players to slow the game down, maintain possession as much as possible and play safe. This would mean Lallana playing the way he was facing. It doesn't mean i agree with it, that ball (along with a few others) should have been played!
Gerrard should have been dropped 2-3 years ago. We're now at a point where we're still relying up on him which is poor management. In pretty much every game Gerrard has missed over the past 2-3 years, we've played well. The game against Real must finally the bit of evidence everyone needed to show you that we can play better without him in the team. If he's back in the team against Chelsea, then God help us and I expect us to hand him a stupid 2-3 year deal.
