Deary me Interviewer: "So whats it like to be the best guitarist in the world?" Hendrix: "Dunno, ask Rory Gallagher" The mans pure class. Mick, have you ever got down to the Willie Clancy festival in Milltown Malbay. Great shout for good trad music, craic is unreal. For the purposes of the thread, out of loads of trad groups I could mention but none of you would give two ****es, I will give a mention to Planxty or more namely the two boys who made them, Paul Brady and Andy Irvine. Early SLF was great - very melodic tunes from Jake. The Undertones have done some classic songs though and egde it for me. I liked U2 as a kid. But Bono is a pompous bullsh*tter and I agree that they lost their way after the first few albums. The Boomtown Rats were a laugh. So were The Pogues - although someone's going to tell me they were from London and not Irish at all!
,I can't get the full programme but check through RTE 'Great Irish Journeys',it's all my neck of the woods, fascinating. Moving Hearts 1st album, don't even go there to evoke memories!
^^^^ That's all mixed up,don't know what happened there.BTW The Stones asked Rory Gallagher to join them but he said no way,I'm my own man!
