Selling El Sulko for £50m would have been genius if it wasn't spunked on the greasy pikey donkey.

Comolli was behind Suarez and Henderson being signed.

People criticize the spending during Comolli/Dalglish... and they made some big mistakes *cough*Andy*cough*- but if we sold Suarez for what he is worth- Comolli/Dalglish would represent a profit for us in the transfer markets.

Same can be said for his Spurs days- he wasted a lot of money on all sorts of players- but his finding Bale and the sale of Bale means he made Spurs profit too! He throws darts a little wild of the target at times- but he DOES get the bullseye occasionally.

Throwing money at a bunch of players in the hope that one may become a world beater isn't exactly sound business is it?
This whole idea of buying players for profit I find annoying anyway - shouldn't a club be buying players not to sell, but to keep and improve our team?
Even if we broke even with Carroll, Downing and Adam, their transfers would still be failures because they were **** and are no use to our team.

A series of great decisions, including buying Suarez, including hiring Kenny as a caretaker while giving FSG time and space to look for the right long-term manager...

FSG has not struck many bad chords. And if it has, it has dished out the punishment and learned the lesson. I hope they don't punish Brendan too much for buying Aspas... a slap on the arse by a female staff would do.

He identifies a group of players who have the potential to become world-class. Most don't, one or two do.
You may have to clear a mountain to find a handful of diamonds- but their value makes it worthwhile.

... and it was worth enduring the Shiite that was Charlie Adam to also get the quality that is Luis Suarez.

I'm not into buying to sell either; however, the concept is the same if you keep them.

Obviously we DID keep Henderson and Suarez... we couldn't afford to buy Suarez now- he'd be out of our price range. Even chasing Henderson we'd be outbid now.

I'm not sure how much skill was involved- and how much luck was involved- but in his wild hunt for quality Comolli found the worlds most expensive future transfer in Bale... and the man who could beat that transfer record in Suarez were we ever to sell him.

Even if the 70mill clause is active... being the man responsible for finding two £70mill+ players is pretty impressive.

i call revisionist on this stuff.

sorry but lets be fair, fsg look to have got it right but they blundered about at the start and made mistakes.... fair enough, no problem but you cant say appointing dalglish for an extra year bought time, it didn't they just saw their mistake and sacked him.

same for comoli.... he was a mistake based on knowing nothing and needing expertise. he after all blundered in the evra fiasco providing his expert translations and getting suarez hung
