Why is Steve Bruce in there? It's got nowt to do with the achievements some of our atheletes have shown this summer.

Surely Weir getting 4 gold medals or Storey doing similar in the velodrome in the paralympics, should really be in there instead.

I'll say Luke Campbell because he's from Hull & it's the one thing i watched with most anticipation.

I've seen a suggestion on Twitter that there should be two sports personalties of the year, as a one off for this year only. One Olympian, one not.

The Olympians and Paralympians have got their own honurs list this Winter, haven't they? Apparently, you can only give a Knighthood to one sportsmen a year.

    Just put this on another thread;

Wiggins winning both Olympic gold and the T de F, Murray winning Olympic gold and the American Open, Jessica Ennis winning Olympic gold for Heptathlon must all be among the favourites for sports personality, but my vote would go to Mo Farah.

The thing that set him apart was that while the others won their individual disciplines he won two of the toughest Olympic events with minimal recovery time between.
Many of the top runners in the 5000 mtrs were fresh because they hadn't even taken part in the 10000 mtrs, so it was a real sporting feat for Farah to win both races. Add to that his reactions after winning each race were the enduring images of those games that I'll remember.

I also think winning other big events in addition to the Olympics (such as T de F and the American Open) shouldn't define the winner because top athletes win events throughout the calendar and have to train harder than most others. It's not their fault that their finals don't get as much media attention as the ones mentioned.

Walcotts and Welbecks superb goals against Sweden were mine, I was in the pub and the whole roof absolutely lifted off the place and for once everyone had a sense of excitement and a chance of success at a major tournament. Closely followed by Englands excellent penalty shootout.

I think Haye v Chisora should be in there, not that it was an prolific moment or anything because they're both pricks, but I think the whole country wanted Haye to knock that gobby little **** out, and when he started delivering a beating I was in a packed bar in Leicester and everyone went chaotic, jumping on tables, throwing chairs about and everything, it was a pure quality moment.

I voted for Mo in this poll because it really was an amazing couple of "moments".

Wiggins winning the Tour was brilliant, but it was more of a steady realisation, there was no tense finish. You could say the same for Ennis, with her last event being somewhat of a formality (even though she made it exciting). With Hoy, there was an air of expectation that he would do it.

However, with Mo, it was a real 'off-your-seat' moment both times. Also, certainly going in to the 5000, there wasn't too much expectation - there was hope that he could do it, but I don't think that most people really expected it.

I cannot understand why anyone would vote for the Hull City and Man City options when so much else was far better.

Hard choice to make. i voted for None of the above due to the efforts of Paralympian Chris Weir who Won 4 Gold medals with the last being the wheelchair marathon. So so many options and god help the BBC sport review team and the publ;ic when votes have to be cast. What a 2012 summer of sport its been and still the Rhyder Cup golf to come on the 28th sept.

I agree with you. Those two are nowhere near the best things to happen this summer.

I agree about City, it was only a managerial appointment of course and not an achievement as such, and it only matters to us locally. But the PL title race was amazing and just because there aren't gold medals involved in football, I don't see why it can't be recognised in the same way as the others. Having said that, it isn't an achievement by anyone but Man City, so to the rest of us it was a great contest and great entertainment, but not as pleasing as the likes of Campbell, Ennis, etc. winning their golds.

This might be a bit controversial, but does anyone else find Mo Farah a bit annoying? He seems like a nice guy and everything and his achievements are very impressive but he just seems a bit over the top with all the showing off stuff, he obviously wants to be Usain Bolt but he just isn't. He isn't a super-cool, muscley, jamaican badass like Bolt. I think I'd like him if he just stuck to the running without all the nonsense.

Was a really tough thing to choose. There have been some great achievements in British sport this summer but I've gone for Mo Farah.

He has to achieve somthing though. It's no good just getting the job.

Could get even better if Yorkshire get promoted in the cricket. Of course Lancashire have already been relegated.
