Hawk, did a little research (Wiki!!) - 29th November 1973, Bristol Colston Hall RoD, The Who at Swansea in '76 had a basic laser light show - it was only bolts and shafts of light all over the place but it was first time I'd ever seen anything like it.
Not too many of us into Heavy Metal I did like some Mod bands but probably the majority of my collection some 4000 cd's most of which ripped to mp3 now is more Chieften tank than Lambretta. How could I have missed out Nina, Kraftwerk and the Scorpions have to stop now or I'll be reminiscing for the rest of the day and getting the keyboard wet (tears before any daft responses) remembering things from my youth etc like what I could have done different.
Heavy metal has deffo grown on me then again so has music since I found out more then generic pop songs 12 years ago
Lol it's what mothers do best Wonder what people's worst bands are if you count them as a band then for me it one direction if they have to play instruments blood on the dance floor
Listen to some Floyd and sit back and enjoy Dave Gilmour's guitar rifts and as brookksyboy39 says some Rush Alex Lifeson's guitar playing on 2112 overture
Brooksy got it spot on and the Canadian in me says it has to be RUSH! In 2nd place RUSH and guess who's 3rd (yes you got it) RUSH. So there it is then RUSH. Hope you don't think the 69 year old has gone mad.
I think you'll see that was June'81, as I was there! http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/history/1981/
You don't like one direction because you take it two directions They don't bother me, not many bands would do 2 gigs in a day because they sold out quickly in Cardiff they put on a afternoon gig. They are only Cowels meal ticket, Take That started out similar annoying boy band with screaming girls. One they mature you find their songs are catchy Music is one of those things that, even the worse bands in the world you find one or two of their tracks good. Who would of thought folk music would come back, look at Mumford and sons storming up the sales around the world.
and if I had bumped into you Antknee I wouldn't of understood a word you were saying with that accent!
Back in the 1970s I played violin in the school orchestra (don't laugh!). One day we had a dress rehearsal for a large concert we were doing in the Colston Hall with a bunch of other schools in South Bristol. During our lunch break, me and a couple of others went round the corner and popped into the Hippodrome through a side door and found a rock band in there setting up. We sat on the front row in the otherwise empty hall for about half an hour whilst they practised and tuned their equipment. Only later on when someone read the poster on the door did we realise it was Rush - but it meant nothing to us, as back then we hadn't heard of them!
My heart breaks for you bcfc because you were so close to seeing rock royalty but at least you were in their space. Some other memorables for me was seeing the final concert of U2's world tour in Honolulu and the warm ups were pretty tasty with Pearl Jam and Green Day. In my 69 years have seen some great ones including Dire Straits (4) Genesis and too many others to mention. Good luck to the invincible 2400 reported to be heading up north tomorrow and a special good luck to the City players. Bring it on home boys.
Does anyone remember Boston cause I saw them at Ohio University stadium. The Eagles "When hell freezes over" was another great one.
