That puts me in mind of a midweek game in the late 60's - can't for the life of me remember where the match was though! On the way home, fuelled with a few pints, one of our crowd - Dave - was pleading with the driver for a pee stop, standing in his work suit, jiggling by the door for all he was worth. When the driver finally relented, he bolted out the door and disappeared into the night. A few of us decided to take advantage of the stop and went for a pee as well - and stood relieving ourselves into a ditch by the side of the road. What we didn't realise was that Dave had bolted out of the door without looking, had fallen into the ditch and we were peeing all over him! Poor sod at least had a seat to himself for the rest of the way home
I remember getting the coach to Portsmouth with a school friend when I was about 14. We lost 5-0, it rained, and on our way home the people on the bus decided to stop at a pub whilst my mate and I wanted to get home. The pub wouldn't even let us in the door, let alone serve us! I haven't been on a coach to an away game since. On another note, when I was 8 or 9 and going to games in the cold, my grandmother used to bake two potatoes for me to keep in my coat pockets. They kept my hands warm until half time when I ate the potatoes.
Well for me there have been a number of stand out fantastic matches with thrills, spills & on the edge of your seat stuff full of emotion but my favourite, because it epitomised the first Taylor era was a 4-3 win aet in the cup against Luton at the Vic. I particularly remember GT motivating speech to the players at the end of full time & John Barnes in full flow down the left. Fantastic. As for the worst - well luckily memory usually fades when it's been bad! I can still remember the most depressing game I've watched recently which was 2 seasons ago V Barnsley 0-3 and when another similar performance comes along - which it will - I will forget this one & remember just the most recent game - it's the way I keep sane!
I have to say, One of my favourite every games was the the Semi Final against Palace at home. The result may have been a 'boring' scoreless draw, but the atmosphere that we generated with the the away support in the lower Rous was nothing short of amazing. The game has always stuck in my memory and i hope the board one day see fit to move the away support there period. Worst game was by far the Accrington Stanley cup game a few years ago. Sitting in the Upper Rous made it even more unbearable.
