Has anyone nominated a Fall LP? Grotesque (after the gramme) gets my vote as it has both Container Drivers and The North Will Rise Again on it. But Perverted by Language runs it very close.

Depeche Mode, Psychedelic Furs, Tears For Fears and The The were bands who produced some excellent albums...

Have to say I was never a real fan of REM (SW ducks the rocks coming from all directions).
But having heard the swathe of admirers I thought I’d give them a go yesterday... chose three albums with high recommendations from the various “Stipies” here. So chose Monster, Green and Fables of the Reconstruction.
I ‘quite’ enjoyed Monster, wasn’t so keen on Green and ‘quite’ enjoyed FotR.
Was it me or did I hear a fascination for coffee in one album and on other fascination for trains in another. Subliminal brainwashing?
To be fair I was working as well, so probably need to give them another chance - so might listen to Monster or FotR another time with headphones/AirPods.

I’d recommend And I Feel Fine.... a compilation of the early, IRS years, though some may think this sacrilege. Got all my favourites on there anyway.
