why is everyone saying wilshere was bad....I thought carzola was more anonymous today and also giroud link up was terrible.
I didn't think we were that bad tonight. Not great granted but I thought we looked fairly good going forward and defended pretty well too. It was a bit of a boring game in the end, but we did well to keep a clean sheet and could have nicked it at the end. I think we'll beat them at the Emirates, so all in all it's not a bad night.
Probably the most important game of our entire season, right at the start. Our signing of a top quality DM, or even a striker in the January window, is dependent on us having Champions League football.
Disappointing to draw but we'll get these ****s at the Emirates. A bit of rest will do Rambo some good as well. Chambers was quality once again at the very least.
I think one of the problems was that our game is all about control and passing . That pitch was sh!t , the ball was bobbling all over the place . Ive seen better grounds in division 4 . Not a great performance , but we didnt shed any goals either . Still peeved that we didnt sign Ba .
and Debuchy , he carries far more of a threat than 20 crosses a game Sagna Kos got away with some pretty flaky defending decisions tonite though
Monreal has now played for about 430 minutes straight without conceding a goal. You need to stop reading the crap on here when you watch games.
True. Though I'm not convinced Kos is 100%, luckily Wenger said ze Germans will be back. We've missed Ozil's presence in the midfield and even Podolski would have been useful. Giroud isn't 100% either but Sanogo is too raw.
Not that it affected the result but Ramsey's second yellow he didn't actually grab the guys shirt, he just fell over as soon as he felt Ramsey's arm
wenger was wrong to claim that both of ramseys yellows were wrong as the first was nailed on for shirt pulling...I only mention this as he undermines his argument aboutthe 2nd yellow which was a complete joke...never a yellow in a million years imo
For me the only issue i had with team selection was that in a game away in turkey you know it's going to be rough, so should have played players that like a battle, or who don't shirk a battle, like rosicky. I would have stated rosicky and ox instead of cazorla and giroud(clearly not fit). Put sanchez up top as there were a few instanced where there was a ball over the top but giroud didn't have the pace get away from the defenders. That's how i would line up against everton.
I don't know why you should say this. He is playing pretty solid defense. he doesn't get forward as much as Gibbs, but defensively IMO he is slightly superior. He even managed to fill in at CB for the preseason and did a respectable job. He defended very well last night behind Cazorla, who is an absolute liability defensively. For the most part I thought the whole defense played well and kept them at arms length most of the night. I don't know how you can go to Turkey, play on a crappy pitch, get a 0-0 draw and single out one of the back 4 as being "gash". It seems to defy any kind of common sense. Even more unbelievably, people are saying that Kos playing next to him was not great either. There he was with his two defensive partners playing poorly defensively and yet was playing "gash", while helping hold them to a 0-0 draw, one where the goalkeeper was hardly troubled except from long range! I really wish I had that kind of belief in my abilities to read a game.
The only thing I would say on that is that Sanchez (and everyone else) was clearly having trouble running with the ball on that pitch. Wenger might have thought that a header, or a knock-down was a more likely route to a goal than one that required more control. Just a thought.
