Elmo lasted the season without an injury. What happens if next season he gets injured for 3 months in early October? He's the only natural wide right midfielder we have - Meyler is a central midfielder. Signing another doesn't mean Elmo never plays, but we were lucky this season.

Redmond in if Norwich go down, to rotate/compete with Elmo on the right.

2 players per position really is essential, particularly if we get Europe.

This is the last year we can realistically look at Matt Bart from Brisbane. He's getting on a bit now.

Surely Bart never ages? Likewise Lisa and Maggie?

You're mixing him up with Gloss Bart.

The 4 wide positions are undoubtedly our weakness.

On the plus side this means our spine is fine and I'd rather it be this way round.

Just seen a picture of Steve McNulty, centre back for Luton Town.

I think we should put a bid in.

A Greggs Gold Card and an account at High & Mighty Menswear should do it.

The irony of that is, EasyJet would probably charge him for two seats.

Good on him, though - professional footballer despite obesity and left leg amputation.

Yeah, he was joint winner with himself.

Fair play though. No doubt he gets loads of stick, but he's playing football at a decent level which I'll never do.

There's probably a Moobs like Dejagah joke to be had though..

Yeah this is true. He'll be a football league player next year despite being 14 stone and 54 years of age.

I bet he's hard as nails.

Will any bids come in? Will an Everton, Newcastle or another come sniffing around Davies, Chester or Thudd. To push on we could do with shifting one of these for top dollar providing we invest that on two purchases of a similar standard. Sounds daft, but we need to be able to sell high and buy cheaper replacements. Selling a Chester for 5-6m and replacing him with the next James Chester for 1-2m is how we need to progress as we have no youth academy for players coming up from within

Not yet we don't. We're not blessed with enough talent to be in a position to sell what little we have. Need to keep our better players and build on it. Theres enough areas to strengthen without having to worry about finding wuality replacements.

I agree in principle but that's the spine of our team. For me we need to keep Big Al, Chester, Davies, Thudd, Livermore ( when he's ours) Long and Jelavic. The 4 that play around them are up for debate but next year, that's the core.

Wickham looking incredibly promising in the past few games.. I wonder if Bruce can convince him to come across to Hull? After all, Sunderland supporters seem to think he's a hack.
