As has been already posted in this thread an article from the Independent 1995 my simple friend, page 1.
Also his other idol was Steve Archibald .
His two idols played for the same team , a little overwhelming .
Also Bergy advised Verts to go to Spurs over Arsenal.

    Goodnight Vienna

So...there is no evidence? Not a single quote, ever, from Bergkamp or anyone close to him saying he was a Spurs fan? He likes 2 players from the club, and that makes him a fan?

I quite like Ronaldo & Ozil, but I'm not a Real Madrid fan. I also like Messi & Fabregas, but I'm not a Barca fan. I also like Fellaini & Baines, but I'm not an Everton fan. There's a pattern here.

You have not on jot of evidence that Bergs was a Spurs fan.

You may like these other combinations but the difference was
these were his Ultimate Heroes .
A job for you as a Swiss Diplomat is on the cards with such dispassionate reasoning .
A little like the insipid atmosphere to be found in a certain stadium.

    Absolutely agree with this.

I wish Wenger would go back to signing a few more 'natural athletes' rather thanc ountless small atttacking midfielders we get these days.

Well, Bale is having a great run right now, but even so, he is assists and goals-wise pretty even with Walcott.

I happen to agree with you though, and think Bale is better, because I think Walcott gets better chances because our team is far better overall.

As for Bergkamp being a Spurs fan. I think you are being a little silly. he is Dutch and an Ajax fan. If he had some slight preference for Spurs when he came to England then it ended as soon as he joined Arsenal. It hardly counts as being "a fan".

A lot is made of these players from outside the UK claiming to be fans of this club or the other, but most of them follow English football in general rather than being fans of a particuar club. RVP had pictures of his room when he was a kid with Arsenal stuff all over it. I am sure now he plays for United, a picture will surface from when he was going through his phase supporting them.

I agree with nearly everything you say. Yes he had a preference for Spurs as a boy and young man but I totally agree he lost it as he came to Arsenal.

I think Bale is the best player by far , between both teams.
( I only used the Walcott scenario because your moderators were telling me he was better,)
I think you are better in central midfield and attack.
Spurs defensive with Lioris in goal looks stronger.
I have no idea who will win, a stupid ref could totally unbalance the game.

Special group of players. We talk about Henry, Bergy etc, but the players around them were all top top quality. The destruction they inflicted on Everton was a truly collective affair. Also the bench wasn't too shabby either.....

So a journalist writes that he was a spurs fan, that's great evidence, maybe you should consult your friend HIAG about what constitutes evidence, as he is allegedly a lawyer, now run along old chap, before we make you look even more foolish.

<laugh> at the dozy Spud clinging to his claim like a tagnut hanging off the arse end of of a Dog.

It does make you wonder how 'I'm not a Spurs fan' can be interpreted as being a Spurs fan.

Spud logic at its best <laugh>

I was wondering where the pose for the statue came from as we all know where the poses for the Henry & Adams statues are from. There is a photo in today's Daily Mirror and apparently the pose for the Bergkamp statue is of him trapping the ball v Newcastle in 2003 <ok>

We now have four statues outside the ground, I think that's enough for the time being.

Apart from 2 good goals, one against Leicester and Newcastle, I cant for the life of me fathom out why he should have a statue, mind you with four statues outside your ground it is still better then the defence you put out on the pitch. :emoticon-0116-evilg
