You even said your self Bothroyd would always run into the channels which is what a target man looks to do. And Bothroyd was used mainly by Warnock in this role.
And for some1 to say they dont want Berbatov but if we get injuries we will have to play HH coz we have no one else. That makes great sense
HH is a good player, he was our top scorer last season. Wouldnt it make more sense to get another target man in rather than play a non target man in that role or completely change the way we play?
Are you sure?, I thought he played one tracker pretending to be a farm hand along side a beater who in turn plays off two dog handlers and a chimney sweep
Have you ever watched Berbatov play ???? he is great at linking up play and bringing players into play and can score goals.
I don't doubt Berbatov is a sublimely skillfull player but having seen him at Spuds and Utd I can't be convinced that he is a grafter. Can we afford that sort of luxury player who won't show up against the likes of Reading and Norwich but wants to be centre stage against his former clubs and the other top six or seven teams? It goes to show the club has a lot of ambition if this is true but on a day when Taiwo leaves for "giants" Dynamo Zagreb I can't help but wonder what direction we are really going in. Would Taiwo's wage demands have been any higher than Berbatov's? We might want Berbatov (we being Mark Hughes) but does he want us? He seems hell bent on leaving Utd but does he want to put the graft in for at best a mid-table hopeful?
Sky saying they'll give the answer to whether Mark Hughes will bid for Berbatov during the night. So it sounds like a no, otherwise they'd be all over us making a bid.
What a beautiful thread. Read through it again and realise that hindsight is a terrific thing. This has not been re-posted with the intention of an ' I told you so ' nor as a 're-incrimination' thread. Do we wished we had signed him now? We had the capacity to back then.
I haven't read through the thread, but I hope I wanted to get Berbatov, I think he's brilliant. I don't see how you could have him and Adel in the same team though.
He drops back very deep a lot though mate, especially when he's getting poor service - like at our place last year. We had him bottled up then. Why didn't we do the same on Monday night?
He does, true. Him and Adel in the same team would be quite a luxury I agree. The reason we didn't get to grips with him in the first half was that Hill and Samba were far too deep. This allowed him to simply wander into the huge midfield spaces. Second half we put Onuoha on and pushed higher up the pitch, knowing that Ned's pace would give us some insurance. That squeezed the space that Berbatov operated in.
Ale Faurlin was magnificent in that match, probably the best match I've seen him play. He did a lot in that match to keep Burbatov quiet as well as create space for Taarabt with his intelligent passing. Can we have him back please? He is ever so well behaved.....
