Theo Walcott is now out for around 6 months, a move for Berba looks more likely now.

"Fulham head coach Rene Meulensteen insisted that nothing should be read into Dimitar Berbatov’s omission for his side’s FA Cup third round draw at Norwich. The Bulgarian has been linked with a move to Arsenal and Gunners striker Yaya Sanogo has suggested that the north Londoners were close to a deal.

But the Dutch boss insisted that it was a decision to rest him, not so that he wouldn’t be cup-tied. “No conspiracy there,” said Meulensteen.

“It’s more looking after a valuable asset of this club. After the recent little injuries he did well against West Ham, so to play again so soon would be not very clever. We looked after him.”

Asked whether there was any truth in the Arsenal rumours, however, Meulensteen, who carved his reputation as a first team coach under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford, had an unfortunate slip of the tongue,

“Everybody’s assuming (Berbatov will go) but as far as I know he is a Man United player....my mistake. Oh my God. He’s a Fulham player.”

He swiftly added: “As far as I know he is very content, very happy. He is playing well and is very important for us.”

I suppose it's easy to mistake us for Manchester United, although our recent form is a bit better than theirs.

 

Listening to talksport and they just picked up on it- their take was that it might mean Berbatov was going to Utd, didn't mention that Rene corrected himself. Bunch of idiots no idea why I'm listening.
