Rumour is Bendtner wants to stay in the Prem and will be on his way to Hull or West Ham. I only thought of him due to the Arsenal connection. I agree with you Surlyc, he's one of those bad news troublesome players! I've just got an awful feeling we may not get a replacement striker and will have to finish the season with Bent and Hugo upfront!
I don't think that is him posting. It's a link he posted on his timeline, not a picture, and the link leads to a website that always gets posted up there, including illegal streams. I think the rest is reposted from his official Twitter. EDIT: Doh, didn't read the second page! Also, I think Jelavic should be on our radar.
If Arsenal are looking for Berbatov we must ask for Vermaelen in return. He's miles better than what we have at the moment, and probably would come to us too with the World Cup coming up this summer. He needs regular first team football if he's to get into that Belgian team.
Love to see Vermaelen come to Craven Cottage but would be amazed if Arsenal let him go. It would leave them short at the back.
Wenger denies any move (naturally!!): "Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger denies interest in buying Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov in the January transfer window. The Frenchman says transfer options are "quite restricted" for the Gunners who have lost striker Nicklas Bendtner to injury for "weeks". Vermalen did say that if he was not getting games (which he isn't) he would ask to go out on loan in January due to World Cup coming up! In terms of Bobby fearing having to play Bent or Rodders up front for the rest of the season it would Dembele all the way for me nothing to lose
If that was the case, then I suspect Napoli would be first in line as they shown interest in him for a while.
Welcome to our board SuperJack. I'd imagine Wenger is a bit more canny to decide where to send Vermalen on loan than based on who showed interest first. Why send him to Italy, when he can stay in the Prem and help us to take points from Arsenals rivals at the top? Plus he wouldn't have to move and uproot his family. If he comes to us, look at it as a bonus and helping hand for your chances of winning the league.
Apologies in advance for lowering the tone..... Another bonus of signing Vermaelen is his mrs - the delightful Polly Parsons. It wouldn't be the end if the world if she ended up in the seat next to yours for the rest of the season.
Or we could send him on loan to you and he could drop one his infamous clangers and cost you points against one of our rivals. He is no longer first choice for a reason.
True, but there's also a valid reason that Wenger let Senderos go and kept Vermaelen 3 years ago. Anyways, we are not likely to be signing Vermaelen and I'd be surprised if Arsenal signed Berba (although I never would have thought Arsenal would sign Gallas/Silvestre/Benayoun either). If they did come in for Berba, we'd be more likely to be offered an Arsenal youngster on loan and I don't really see anyone in their youth team who is any more ready to play than our youngsters.
I don't think Wenger will sign Berba, for the 5 (max 10) goals he might score I don't see him fitting in to the Arsenal dressing room. We indulge him because he is our best player, and I reckon he likes that. Arsenal seem like a tight unit with Ozil the star man - why risk disrupting that when there are many other options out there.
I still think Wenger will sign Berba. He's the perfect short-term cheap fix to help them finish the season off strongly. Then Wenger has got the summer to find Suarez or a long-term high quality striker. He'd fit in perfectly with their high possession levels and creative play - hence my cheeky bet in December. I don't think he's thrived with us as we haven't really delivered him the service he needs to find the back of the net on a regular basis. If you're convinced he'll stay with us, you can back him not to move in Jan at 1/2. Best price to move to Arsenal is 5/4.
It's entirely possible that 'his' Facebook page actually has nothing at all to do with him. I'd take that image with a large pinch of salt. Edit: Ah, everybody has already made the same point. That'll teach me to read to the end of a thread before joining in. Sorry.
