Difference is though, When they gave abuse before we were in the championship... And there only real boasting point was playing in the Qualifiers of the Champions league.., I doubt they'll embarrass themselves again.
THIS THIS THIS!!! He is a headless chicken with a poor footballing brain and is technically average. Sums up the English game to be honest!
That's not how I remember it - he was the one succeeding with the blocks because he was in the right place, I think you must be thinking of Gerrard's desperate lunge to charge down Nasri's goal.
Just out of interest have you ever played Centre Midfield? Scott Parkers positioning is dreadful, if he didn't sit so deep he would be there to intercept the pass, much like Barry, rather then 'Heroically throwing himself in the way of the ball'.
The whole team was too deep, you can't blame one player for that. When was the last time Barry had a good game for England anyway?
When was the last time Barry played 90 minutes for England? Answer to your previous question was England V Slovenia. Now my question, when has Scott Parker had a good game for England, in a competative game?
I know everyone has there own opinions about players and rightly so but I feel There are far better players than Scot Parker who should have a England shirt on. I really don't know where the FA are going with appointing Managers like Pearce and Hodgson, the football is so bloody boring. Now really is the time to bring in a New Young manager like Guardiola so our best young players wear the England shirt.
You guys are living in a dream world. Where are all these midfielders who are far better than Parker? Where are all these young managers queuing up to manage England who are more qualified for the job than Hodgson? The answer is there aren't any. Really why on earth would a guy like Guardiola even consider managing England? The very idea is laughable.
Trouble is, all the good or better mid fielders play for other countries!! Also there are others that are equally good but maybe not as experienced as Parker.
Spot on. Plenty of people coming up with problems, not so many with solutions! If you don't want Parker and Hodgson you're going to have to say who you want instead. Lampard and Harry?? If Hodgson had gone through his whole career without getting a chance to manage England it would have been completely wrong.
There aren't many better but that doesn't mean Parker is very good. The whole thing revolves around issues in English grassroots football...
I don't really understand this argument - Parker is a good technical player. Yes, he also works hard and does the 'brave English lion' crap but that shouldn't obscure the fact he is a very good player. Incidentally this willingness to do the dirty work might have led to him being misused as a destructive midfielder by Redknapp and Hodgson, but at West Ham he was the creative heartbeat of their team.
He's not that good technically. Better than Chaplow but speaking purely technically, Barry is far better. Issue is, Barry is crap and slows down every attack and move.
Well he's as good as anyone we have at receiving the ball under pressure, turning away from a challenge and playing a simple ball to a teammate. I know it sounds simple but very few of our players seem capable of it.
My mindset isn't that Parker shouldn't be in the team, more that it's a pity he is because of the real lack of talent England have.
Parker really is a poor player. And to anyone who says Barry is crap, how many titles has Parker won as a key player, not too sure but think he might've won 1 at Chelsea, but then he never played 34 times for a title winning team as Barry did. Carrick Barry Huddlestone Scholes are miles better then Parker.
Bit of an odd argument. 1 player doesn't make a team. I'd not be bad in a 5 man midfield with Yaya et al
Barry's role works for City, but for England he'd be disastrous. Either way we don't have to worry for too long. If Wilshere's injury hasn't ruined his career, and players like Rodwell, Barkley and even our own James Ward-Prowse live up to their potential, we're set at CM
Fair enough - that makes more sense. Just because he played in a title winning side doesn't make him a top player. For that I was about to drag out the old Djimi Traore case.
