I think he's just the kind of player who needs to feel loved (soft i know). At Charlton and Sunderland he had the support of the club and the fans, he never really had that at Tottenham (he was a squad player) and has lost it at Villa. Giving it up at Sunderland was a mistake, fair enough if he went to a bigger club and spoke of aspirations to play in Europe and challenge for silverware but Villa!?!?!

As a player I think he will do a fine job for a team when he is their star striker. As a person he's just a mercenary who chases the most money and seems to expect adoration.
 
Funnily enough, I was just thinking about this very same subject today,,Both Bent's and Sunderland's fortunes have not been the same since he left, and I wonder whether he regrets his decision to jump ship..
For me, if he apologised for the way he done things then I would be able to forgive and forget and welcome him back.

Did he jump or was he pushed though? I was as pissed off as the next man when he ditched us for whatever reason as for having him back I'm not sure it would work again so no.
