You really must get over your Parky fixation Houndal.I can recommend a good therapist. To still be mentioning him in every post is bizarre.
If we're using heads rather than hearts, then Euell should move on long before Benson. Benson managed to score a few last year and look at the srvice he had. Euell is an old favourite, but, blimey, we had the Halifax game in Spain and he looked out of place against BS North defenders.
Yes agreed, Euell's goal scoring days seem to have gone, Benson still has the goal scoring knack. I can't understand with his record moving up from a L 2 club as well he doesn't get the plaudits he deserves.
The thing is, Euell hasn't been a goal scoring striker for years, he moved back into midfield during his first Charlton spell, and hasn't played up front since then. If BWP was crocked, Benson is the most obvious replacement, as Hayes is a suppport striker, Euell a plodding midfielder, and Smith is a rookie target man.
So technically, Benson going out and getting some match practice will do us no harm, but I don't want to see a loan move become permanent in january really. Having said all that, is his contract up in june? If so he'll probably waltz out for free.
Ken, by June we will be in Champ. and Benson is not a Champ goalscorer so if he leaves in the summer, no biggie
Just spoken to my Swindon contact - he understands the loan deal failed to go through. If that's the case, got to say, I'm quite relaxed about that. And you're dead right, AllHell.
Ok, here's the latest - http://www.swindontownfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10341~2528688,00.html - and this from Paulo... "We are working to try and get the deal completed but that's now down to the Football League. We have everything agreed with the club and the player. Everything is OK with the agreement but we need to wait for the Football League to see whether the deal can go through." Faxing from a motorway service station...can't say all the stops weren't pulled out.
