Hang on, he doesnt say Pardew has instructed them to play it long ball, he is just suggesting that might be why he isnt getting games.

It may be the Sun, but it's a direct quote. I'm sorry but it doesn't read well at all, Soton and West Ham fans said exactly the same thing about Pardew. Talks the talk but is a long-ball merchant.

I don't think I'll ever forgive Pardew if his stubborness ends up costing us arguably one of the most talented players we've had in the last 5 or 6 years.

Speaking of which, I agree with Ben Arfa about Pardew's style of play lately. Where has the short passing entertaining football went?

He probably just means because we play 4-4-2, with wingers who are direct (but **** at being direct), instead of through the middle or with true wide forwards, both of which he'd be more useful in.

Ben Arfa should have been on the wing ages ago.

I prefer him as a #10 but it's not ideal for him coming back from injury, constantly being in a position where he needs to turn on the ball in crowded areas and gets very limited time to make decisions. The fact Pardew won't play him there because he doesn't have 'the relish' or whatever to do so is just laughable. Especially watching Obertan flounder around offering **** all in terms of defensive responsibility.

People we are talking about a man who played Hayden Mullins over Javier Mascherano.

Hopefully Benny will begin to start games regularly during and after the ACoN, I like Pardew but like Chappaz said though if Arfa ends up getting pissed off and leaving because he's fannied round all season never picking him I will be...

    Cabaye praises Ben Arfa
Asked by RMC, Yohan Cabaye, the middle of Newcastle, welcomed the return to form for Hatem Ben Arfa, his partner in the north of England.

"It is. For now, the coach used as a wildcard. I hope it will not start to annoy. We need him. Everybody knows it here. As soon as he enters, he tries to do its utmost to show he can play too. it was a very important goal in Bolton. I hope it will give him what he needed to come back. it's a very good thing for us, for him and the French football. "

When we were unbeaten we were playing football, since we've lost we've resorted to ****e football and it's pissed 99% of our fans off. I hated Fat Sam for his **** football that struggled with results... I've still got faith in Pardew, for now.

The worst thing about the direct style of football is our players are completely ill-suited to it. Playing percentage football when the percentages are stacked against you is cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Cabaye, Tioté, Ba, Ben Arfa, Santon, Colo and to an extent people like Jonas, Guthrie and Obertan are far more suited to a short, technical, considered style of play. It's painful watching us play static, rigid football with no movement or interplay but instead just panicking and lumping it aimlessly towards two strikers. The only excuse I can make is that the fullbacks are truly awful in possession and that makes it difficult to play from the back, but then we do have the best ballplaying centre back in the league.

Can't say I blame him for being angry.

Ben Arfa is the sort of player you build a team around, like Barca have done with Messi (im in no way comparing him to Messi is obviously miles better). Instead Pardew stands by clueless obertan and raylor!!

Tiote, Cabaye And Ben Arfa and Ba should be our future spine with players like Holiett, and maybe even Sinclair or Pederson as fellow creative players...

Add that to a good defence and top class keeper and we would be going places.

Alas we seem to have no ambition at the moment which is frustrating!

Are you happy with the football at the moment? The last few games have been just as bad as Allardyce and Souness ever were.

I'm not calling for his head, but come on, if he is sending us out to play rubbish football then there has got to be questions asked.

I'm happy to accept poor runs of form and strings of bad performances, especially after the start of the season we had - what I'm taking umbridge with is one of our players has come out and said that the manager actively encourages a direct style of play. On the touchline for the West Brom game Pardew was shouting at Krul every time he got the ball to kick it long.

I have no problem with bad results, so long as there is an intent to play good football and get the best out of our best players. There is more and more suggesting this is not the case.
