Pinched means stolen as far as i am aware ,adopted by all means ,most towns along the east coast have families from other fishing towns,all have links with fleets following the different fish stocks around the coast,even the small towns had longshore luggers oar and sail which fished away for long periods,inshore fishing has all but gone only a few boats working the beach no everything changed when the railway came ,the rest is history with the victorians from the cities changing many into holiday bathing towns with lots of change to follow.
 
Just got back from Edinburgh and saw a woman wearing a pair of trainers emblazoned with a word that brought back memories.....
