Dont listen to this saintsalive kid, he's a bit special and it is the school holidays so were let him off.

Benjani will knock in a few goals off the bench.

We never thought you were, Saints Alive - this dozy second rate imposter should be renamed saintsaliva, due to the amount of dribbling he is doing on our site. <ok>

To repeat what I said on the official Pompey/Saints banter thread: He proved in the season Redknapp sold him so he could bring Defoe in that he can score goals at the highest level - he was our top goalscorer at the time - but his main attribute is his link up play and his work rate. Portsmouth at the moment have no effective forward line, the link up play between the midfield and the forwards isn't there and the forwards get isolated. If Benjani can do half as well for us now as he did a few seasons ago then he'll be a great addition to the sqaud. We do need a striker but turning down a forward that has an extremely high work rate and good link up play would be madness.

To be honest though I must take you post as a pointless wind up and for that I must direct you to the official banter thread itself. If you have nothing to contribute to the subject at hand then dont post anything at all.

I don't think Benjani's gonna set the championship on fire, but i think he's gonna be infinitely more useful than Kitson

Totally agree, very well said <ok>

But remember, he wasn't just OUR top scorer, he was the leagues top goalscorer at the time we sold him!

He puts in 110% effort whenever he plays - just what we need at the moment.

Hope he is fit enough to play Tuesday evening against Reading at FP. Should raise the crowd.

The fact is Benjani has been in no man's land for the last 3 years(scoring 7 goals),yes he can hold the ball for your strikers...who are they exactly? Luke Varney?good luck with that,I mean it.I want you to be competitive in this league and keep up with your rivals.all the best this season.
P.S whenever you get the chance watch the saints play.Tiki taka!!

Benjani wore the number 25 when he played for us previously, so I imagine it's for this reason that he has been given it again.

This thread is about Benjani. What you posted above has nothing to do with Benjani. If you post one more thing off topic I may just report you to the moderators. There is a place where you can wind up Pompey fans and banter with them and here this: http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/72319-Official-saints-and-pompey-banter-thread.

The fact is that nobody is claiming that having Benjani will change everything. He can be an important part of the team but nobody is deluding themselves into thinking that we still dont have a long way to go to improve. I even admitted that we need a striker a few posts back when you first ridiculed the signing of Benjani.

And our main striker is Kitson who has been a good goalscorer in the past but is currently not performing to the standard he can. Because he's not performing well and hasn't been for a few season we need someone who can push him, threaten his place in the team or replace him. His only challenger really is Kanu and while its hard not to like Kanu he's not the player he used to be and even in his glory days he wasn't a high scoring player. Varney is more of a forward/attacking midfielder/winger, or at least thats the role Cotterill has been playing him in.
