The only manager before mourinho was mancini. secondly ac milan did spend quite a bit of money. ibra, robinho, boateng albeit onloan were all good buys. ac milan also have players like pato becoming better after every season gone by, thiago silva etc etc.

inter milan were an ageing squad all there best players are on the wrong side of 30

Eto ( although he was still brilliant last season )
    millito
    Cambiasso
    zanneti
    lucio
    walters
    etc etc.

They also had a massive injury crisis and no money to spend, so it was always going to be an exetremly hard job, not only is he following on from mourinho who won the first ever itallian treble his squad was getting older every day with no money to spend, a bit like what happened for ancilotti in his second year at chelsea.

If Benitez is such a useless manager, how is it that he won more in 2 seasons than the supposeably superior Harry Redknapp won in 30 seasons.
He won la liga with a club (Valencia) that Hector Cuper,Guus Hiddink and Claudio Ranieri(All supposeably superior managers couldn't).Their first in 31 years...and not only that..he won it again in 2004.Not only that,he's done something Alex Ferguson hasn't and thats win European trophies two seasons running. He's done something only Jose Mourinho(Porto), and Bob Paisley(Liverpool) have done and that is win the UEFA Cup one year and the European Cup the following year.
As for a lot of those signing,Rafa didn't sign 25 of them.

To be fair on alex ferguson and other managers such as wenger, they were rarely in the uefa cup so its hard to win. Wouldnt it be better to be in 2 champions leagues in a row winning one than being in the uefa winning that then winning the champions league? would make more money thats for sure.

but other than that i guess this is one of your rare quality posts lolz.

Well thats an excuse. And a poor one at that. What is your excuse for Rafa Benitez doing something in 10 months what it took Alex Ferguson 13 years to do and that is win the Champions League?
Is it that although Ferguson is a better domestic manager because the key to success is motivation,Rafa is a better European manager due to the fact that its tactics that are more important in Europe than motivation?

Why would i personally make an excuse? if you cant read i was deffending rafa in all my posts on this thread. but so be it if you want me to make an excuse for ferguson sure, Fisrtly very few teams have won 3 or more champions leagues in under 20 years.

Only 5 teams have done it to be precise not every team can win champions leagues often its harder than it looks mate. and to be fair ferguson turned man united from bottom half team to one of the most succesful teams in the world, so its a pretty ****ty stick to beat him with for him not winning the uefa.

But i honestly dont care, just made an excuse cause you asked me to.

You realy don't know a lot do you?
Anyone you don't know you've rated as a flop. Fowler, Benny, and Zenden, Riera, Arbeloa were not flops you moron. All did their bit.

    - In relation to Rafa, it is mad he's been tarnished. Someone will take a punt eventualy and he'll do realy well. Wouldn't want him at England though. Wouldn't want our media destroying him. For once it's them getting destroyed atm.

But he has not done that - consult the record! Where he will take us we don't yet know. However, he is already changing the playing stff strategically which will benefit greatly over the next 3/4 seasons - and beyond if the present production line from the Academy can be sustained. So thanks Rafa for doing that during a time of major crisis for the club. Thanks Kenny for picking us up again and putting us back on the right road.

Yes and quite rightly so, however, the media present the image that he has always been a genius and he instantly worked his magic to transform utd, then sheeple like you fall for it.

Obviously it's going to be difficult to follow on from a treble winning season but the decline in such a short period of time was shocking. 5 league title wins in a row without breaking sweat and then suddenly sitting in 6th place and miles off the top. Unless of course all of the other Italian teams spent millions and millions strengthening that summer, but they didn't.

They got thumped at White Hart Lane against a side with no Champions League experienced and finish second in their group to the same team.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Typical Man United fans.
They are using a stick to beat Rafa with without checking out the facts.
They have managed to list a number of players who Rafa didn't sign. They were there when he arrived as the majority of them were in the youths and reserves.
How can Rafa be blamed for signing players...he didn't sign?

Firstly no im not falling for it you fool no one ever said he was always a great manager everyone knows his first years at united were rough and had it happened today he'd probz been fired, but he wasnt and look how it turned out.
Problem is liverpool fans diss ferguson cause they cant admit they knocked you off your perch, then sheep like you just go along hating him.

In terms of this thread, who really gives a stuff what Ferguson has or has not done. The discusion was designed to discuss Benitez, his strengths and weaknesses and future prospects. That has nothing whatsoever to do with ferguson. They are different individuals, managing different clubs, in different circumstances and at different points in their cycles.

I only mentioned Slur Drinkalot because United fans barged in and put up a list of ''so called Benitez flops'' as usual without looking at the facts.
1.There is at least 20 that he didn't sign so why are they included?
2.There is also a list of free transfers, and every person with more than one brain-cell knows the drill with freebies, some come off...some don't.

I appreciate the point that you are making. If you took every player that has come to United, either on or graduated to professional terms, then you would have an even longer list of so called FLOPS. It's just a silly argument the merely detracts fron exploring future job possibilites for Rafa
