No we were too haphazard under RDM in Europe. We approached Champions League games like they were PL games.
He's just saying they are improving all the time, isn't he? Don't see where he is claiming credit for making Chelsea a better team? Could have missed that quote as I just skimmed through it but I couldn't find anything. Seems like just a poor anti-Benitez headline to me??
If you are right and its the players then you're saying it doesn't matter what manger we have so why do we or any club pay so much to managers?
apparently it doesn't matter how long a manager is at the club apparently or the disruptive effect of the owner repeatedly sacking managers either hardly an environment for confidence to thrive I would imagine, for players and managers alike, that's without getting into fans behavior at the Bridge too.
No offence but you have lower standards than us these days. We have been the dominated English football along with United for a decade so we are fussy buggers now, and Rafa is not good enough for us
We were haphazard but it was a very strange time for the team and RDM, everything had to be juggled to fit in. Benitez didnt even manage to keep us in CL so I can't see how anyone including him, thinks it is his doing that we have improved. We can only wonder where we would be in CL now if RDM was still in charge with the players we have atm.
Probably best not to reply if you only skim through articles but ok he didn't say I have made the team better, but I have made the players better. Like they wouldn't have improved after bedding in anyway without his imput. Also how on earth does he think he has improved Lampard !! I did say in the OP that as it was in the Sun one never knows if it is true or not. You have to judge for yourself. As someone on here said it is probably just his way of maintaining he gets good PR to move forward into a new position after he has shut the Chelsea door behind him.
My positivity thread disappeared a long time ago I agree with this. Feels good to be back to not expecting to lose every game going even the once we should have walked easily .
Have to agree with this Angel. Benitez can be blamed for a lot of our exits in competitions but the CL isn't one of them. Take out the laughable performance away to Steau and we've done okay under Europe under him. Juventus at home was as tactically nieve as it gets, we went into that game going gung-ho at 2-0 up (like we would have in any PL game) and once Vidal made it 2-1 we had no answer to Juve. That was the game that really cost us and I said it would at the time given the Njordsjaellend were as good as a bye.
LOL sorry lads, I think I've lost the plot today, I blame the pills I've been taking for my bloody backache . I was even watching the Grand National and started crying at the 17th fence no idea why think perhaps I've taken too many and its affected my brain, my son recons its the codine content LOL. Normal service will be resumed tomorrow I still blame Rafa for everything though
Given what Rafa has had to enter taking the job it's a wonder you're in contention for anything. I will say the loss to saints yeah, at this stage you can be unhappy about that but also, what is it that the players can take on United and not Saints, it can't all be Rafa's fault, at some point the players have to be judged as not performing well enough in some games. It's far too easy to just blame one guy and anyone but Jose is going to get stick if they don't get off to a winning start because there will be patience with Jose but no one else, that is a fackt. The players will take more blame from Chelsea fans if it's Jose managing next season instead of this heap it on Rafa attitude, ^ blaming him for the CL exit, codeine or not it is just automatic, Blame Rafa with some of you. Ye don;t like the guy, everyone gets it, give it a rest
