My son's been on 3 different levels of DLA and my wife's Carer's Allowance hasn't changed once (apart from the small annual increase in line with inflation).
You can't claim Carers if you receive lower than middle-rate care.
And if you claim the maximum for both Care and Mobility, your Carers will be significantly reduced.
I should have made that clearer.

We were on middle rate care/lower rate mobility up until May. Then we went up to high rate on both. Our CA didn't change. FACT.
That is a result, Jip. I comment only from my own past experience with such matters. Then, sadly, I no longer needed to worry about it, so maybe I'm out of the loop.
I wish you and your family all the best for the future.

Some good advice on here but this is the only piece of advice you should take. Go to the Citizen Advice Bureau, They'll give you all the advice that you've been given on here, but they'll break it down nice and easy to understand, help you obtain the correct forms and help you make your claim There's a certain way to word the forms as the DWP will twist any information you give in order to not award you the benifits you're entitled to.
And before you quit work, see if there's any possibility of voluntary redundancy before they get wind of any plans to quit. You might get lucky and pocket a lump sum. All the best to you and your Lady and hope you get it sorted.
Brian (in receipt of Employment support allowance, Disability Living Allowance and Carers Allowance)
I agree wit this. They will point you in the right direction.
This. It's where ER went to get info about his state pension.
