Swansea's Bendy-Bus Shame

• Swansea City center torn apart to accommodate a poorly designed and ill thought counter traffic one-way system.

• Over two years of mayhem and hardship caused to motorists, pedestrians and businesses for the sake of replacing an already efficient and existing bus service.

• Cost over £10m to tear up The Kingsway, Orchard Street and Alexandra Road.

• Old fleet of existing and efficient buses dismantled to accommodate 10 fashionable, inefficient buses.

• Local businesses suffered fencing around their shops which remained for between six months to two years in some cases.

• Local businesses/shops, closed or went bust as footfall dropped significantly in town center during and post tear up.

• When first opened complaints made to the council that one way system was deadly due to lack of safety barriers and legible sings informing and protecting Swansea people from the obvious dangers caused by the new counter traffic one way system.

• The bendy-bus one way system was even criticized by Coroner as having 'serious design issues'

• Bendy-bus killed two people

• Bendy-bus injures or maims eleven more Swansea people.

THE OPERATOR, FIRST CYMRU NOT OUR COUNCIL, SAY THE ARTICULATED VEHICLE IS NO LONGER VIABLE AND THAT THEY ARE WITHDRAWING THE SERVICE.

TO REPEAT: OUR COUNCIL IS NOT WITHDRAWING THE SERVICE, FIRST CYMRU IS BECAUSE THEY CAN'T AFFORD TO RUN THE BUSES ANYMORE. THEIR DECISION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PEOPLE OF SWANSEA BEING KILLED OR INJURED BY THEIR BUSES BUT BECAUSE IT COSTS THEM TOO MUCH MONEY TO RUN THEM.

An investigation into how this has been allowed to happen, how funding was allocated, who made the decisions to rip up our city Center, and a look at their bank accounts is in order. Just who are these councilors whose murderous ineptitude has cost our city £m's, cost business people their livelyhoods, cost Swansea people their lives. We must find out who these criminals are, why they made the decisions they did, who supported them and how did they get away with it.

A further investigation should be made into First Cymru as to how, after what its cost this City, they can simply pull out with little notice from the supposed contract they have with our robber councilors.

Someone has got rich off this, I want to know who, any ideas?

Bendy busses are going, and cycle path is coming apparently, can't think why to be honest as most cyclists would try and avoid a town centre, I can see the need down Fabian way and mumbles road.

The laughable thing is that the council is saying that they need to do something with the 40% of road users only using the kingsway to get to the uplands or further, perhaps they should have thought of that when they put a one way system past the old police station, I mean they are the only council in the UK to divert traffic deliberately INTO the town centre
