All the very best sportsmen are flawed in some way.

He was found not guilty.

He has to play.

Or are you saying you’d have left Gazza out of our national team? Loads of similar examples.
Nailed it.
And he will learn from it. And English cricket shall prosper,

I'm not sure you Know what you are debating Plum.
You started off saying Curran shouldn't be dropped on performance. Then you say actually Stokes should replace Pope (which if you know anything about cricket, you wouldn't). But decide actually Stokes has been a very naughty boy and shouldn't be considered at all.
My main point is that Curran shouldn't be dropped, based on performance. He's been dropped to shoehorn Stokes in, which I think is just wrong, naughty boy or not. I know he can be good but I don't think he's so good so often that he can't be left out.

You're right in that Stokes doesn't replace Pope, foolish suggestion on my part.

The ECB have a pyramid system a bit like football. League cricket below the county level has various levels, the top of which are the Premier Leagues. There's about 30 of them around the country, 4 In Yorkshire: Yorkshire North, Yorkshire South, Bradford, North Yorks/South Durham. These teams often have county professionals playing when they are not playing for the counties, and overseas professionals. The Yorkshire CC Academy team play in Yorkshire North. It's a very good standard of cricket.

Hull CC were in the Yorkshire North Premier but got relegated last season.

There is a playoff at the end of each season with the winners of each league competing to be Yorkshire Champions (in the case of the Yorks/Durham one its the top placed Yorkshire team). Hanging Heaton (from Bradford) are the current champions.
That is a good standard then.
The pyramid system didn't exist when I played, I was nowhere near that standard but played in Humber Don, which was the top league in Hull area at the time.

Curran is still young and hungry, his time will come again. Surprised Stokes got off to be honest after seeing the vid, probably had good solicitors but a top notch all round cricketer non the less.

Root is Stokes mate, that's half of it. Curran shouldn't have been dropped. I am having family issues because of this as a certain family member won't watch any match in the future that features Hales or Stokes as she thinks cricket is a gentlemans game and shouldn't for those who go round kicking peoples heads in whilst pissed up at 3 am

I think its a case of if your face fits, if that had been Kevin Pietersen they'd have hit him with everything
I was gutted re what happened to Pieterson. In 40 odd years of watching cricket, I don't think I have seen an 'English' batsman play at that level. What happened to him deprived me of probably 10 years of him at his best

short for Doncaster!!! So it ventured into South Yorkshire. Actually prior to the miners strike, we played most of games in South Yorkshire, but the a lot of their teams folded. As an opening bat. it became easier because they always had a serious quickie from down the pit.
I genuinely thought that, and almost said it, but questioned myself as it was an odd geography

Stokes has previous. He missed the 2012 world cup with a broken hand that he got through punching a locker after being given out in a test match. He was sent home from an England Lions/A tour after breaking curfew.

He's a good player, could be very good. But he's walking a fine line with his discipline problems.
He's got red hair ffs.
He clearly has anger issues.
But If he wasn't so 'handy', we wouldn't be taking about it. And remember his mate was getting attacked by a bottle.

I would have put Stokes in for Buttler. Bairstow 5, Stokes 6, Woakes 7, Curran 8, Rashid 9, is a very decent middle/lower order and it would give us an extra option whilst bowling.

Ok. We need find batsmen. Buttler was gonna be the next. TBF no one else is challenging so I have no problem at all with Josh Buttler

He was correctly found not guilty because what he did wasn't affray, it should never have gone to court.

So it wasn't "an instance of group fighting in a public place that disturbs the peace".

So how come over 20 City fans ended up in prison after the Huddersfield game? Not the Huddersfield fans of course.
