Deffo think we missed Tiote and Obertan yday - could have made a difference - and we were unfortunate to concede 3 goals, they weren't particularly impressive going forward, how many clear cut chances did they make from open play? only 2 off the top of my head (Balotelli header + Richards goal). We created 3 or 4 chances and I think Ba should definitely have scored his first chance. Was a close game IMO.

Yea thats right. Their are some things in life that are just set in stone. One of them being a Premier League football player getting game time under his belt helps him become match fit.

    But you obviously disagree.

    Fair enough.

So playing reserve games doesnt get a player fit then? Why do nearly all of them do that after an injury then?

He is a defender who has said he is happy to wait for games until he is confident he has made the adjustment to the PL properly. He is a defender who lost his way a little bit when he had his position chopped and changed here and there at his last club. And you think the best idea for him is to bring him on in midfield towards the end of a match, when we were being dominated.
I disagree with that opinion of yours, but I am not foolish enough to say that my view is 'set in stone' or the 'end of discussion'.

That was great that, like you said it's cool seeing all the players from the other sides getting on. Smith giving the kid his training top as well :) I wish NUFCtv did something like that!

I guess i've found myself somebody else who just instantly disagrees with everything I say.

Santon can play in midfield for 20 mins quite capably.

Perch came on and sufficed at the role. Man Citeh had the foot off the gas when it went 3-0.

Do you rate Santon at all? He isnt a missing child.

Climb out of your own arsehole please, I disagree with people who say things I disagree with and have no special interest in you whatsoever. I'm sure Santon can play in midfield for 20 minutes, but that argument is completely ignoring my point and Smudger's point which is that for his confidence and progression as our future full back he shouldn't be played out of position especially in a game when it wasn't entirely necessary. You're also ignoring that he has said himself he doesn't mind waiting because he wants to make sure he is match confident.

If he isnt looking at Raylor's performance and looking at the games he has failed to get on the pitch and thinking to himself....just when am I going to get a game here? Then there is something wrong.

He shouldn't be made to wait just because he gave the typical 'everything is fine' quote to the press.

I look at it from this point of view. Perch got on the pitch instead of him. What good has that done Santon. Zero.

Being played in different positions regularly, what good has that done Santon? No good whatsoever, actually the exact opposite of good.

We took Cabaye off for Perch, to rest Cabaye. What good would it do putting Santon in CM? A 10 minute cameo against Man City, when we're 3 nil down with 10 minutes left? Talk about pushing him in at the deep end. No point either.

I think Pardew's waiting till Simmo leaves and we get a proper LB to bring him in, or something to that effect.

Why do you both treat Santon as a 16 year old rookie.

This lad has come from Inter Milan with the talent to man mark Messi in a Champions League game....which they won.

He is versatile. He can play anywhere.

It's not like we started him in midfield from the off against Man Citeh....it was a 20 minute cameo when the game was over.

We could always have pushed Raylor into midfield and stuck him in at left back if its such a huge problem.

    Get him on the pitch.

When do you suggest we do play him then? Man U? Chelsea? Wait til Raylor/Simmo gets injured, which cud be anytime.

Throwing him in the deep end is what I want to avoid. Game time when a match is over takes this away. Anyone else help me out here?

Lovenkrands got on the pitch as well, are you pissed off we didnt play Santon up front?

We wanted to rest Cabaye and Santon doesnt play there, get over it.

......but James Perch is such an expert? I repeat, you can always stick Raylor in their and put him in at left back.

Cabaye gets a rest. Santon gets minutes under his belt. Everyones a winner. No? Am I insane here?

What's the point in him getting minutes under his belt in a position he doesnt play? Wont help him at all. We're doing fine without Santon, why are people so desperate to play him?

What's the point in giving a full back a 10 minute cameo in centre midfield when we're losing? Perch, however bad, is a versatile player who can play in CM. And assisted. Santon might not have done that...

Has this forum gone insane today?

As it stands if Raylor or Simmo break down in training, who is going to fill the void? James Perch or a Davide Santon void of any Premier League game time apart from a solid enough cameo against Spurs a month ago?

Its illogical to bring on Perch when you have Santon crying out for a game time sat their on the bench.

If you want to see how Santon gets on at left back. You push Raylor into midfield and stick Santon in their. You do agree that Raylor knows how to play midfield at least?

If Raylor or Simmo do get injured at some point and Pardew does start Santon.........then that will be throwing him at the deep end.

For the record Santon is just as much versatile as Perch. Im not bashing Perch as much as it mind sound, its just compared to Davide Santon he is a pub player.

Bring in Santon for Raylor or Simmo, yes!

Bring in Santon when it's the 80th minute and we're 3 nil down to Man City away and we want to rest a central midfield player? No! Santon hasn't played there before for us. It's illogical to bring him on. What's he gonna get out of the game? Very little.
