We don't know why Pardew still won't start him, there must be something that we're not being told about the lad. However, when he has played he's still evidently getting back up to speed which is to be expected and I think this may have a part to play in it.

We aren't over selling him, we have seen his ability and he has a massive reputation in France - one of the stars along with Ribery, Benzema, Nasri. Before his injury, we saw some brilliance and since it, he changes games and brings excitement everytime he gets the ball. Maybe Pardew just sees him as a classy weapon to bring off the bench - that's the only reason that I can think of because I don't understand how Shola starts ahead of him.

I don't think he was a world beater but I think anyone would struggle to argue that his introduction got us playing football properly (on the floor, you know it makes sense Mr Pardew!), and changed the game in our favour. We looked 2nd best up to that stage and were rigidly long ball which Anton F and Gabbidon were lapping up. I like him and think you have to accept the rough with the smooth with these players. We did with Ginola and it certainly paid dividends. But putting that to one side I can't see any reason why you'd play Shola unless you are going to play long ball. Obviously this is the flavour with Pards currently and we have to accept it, but I can't agree its a good plan. It worked against Man U who are ill equipped to deal with it, but we handed a game to Liverpool and had a good go at giving QPR a headstart. I accept what you say, he can be sloppy in possession but then again Shola only controls one in ten!

Some folk get carried away with the Ben Arfa factor, thinking he is just going to turn the PL upside down. Others are way too harsh on the ugly side of the game, he works harder than he is given credit for. The reality lies somewhere in the middle for me. But I'm struggling to excuse Pardew for not playing him when the two options Pards is using in positions he can occupy are Shola and Obertan (although Raylor now seems in there)

Ben Arfa NEEDS to be starting games, especially with Ba gone.
He should be our second striker.

If Shola starts ahead of Benny next game, I might pull my hair out!!

Just don't understand the work rate argument when he works as hard, if not harder, than players like Shola/Obertan - and he offers more than them when he's on the ball too. But in fairness to Pardew he's doing a cracking job so who are we to argue - doesn't even seem like Benny is too pissed off either, despite the odd comment, but who wouldn't be gutted not to be playing?

Agree. Shola looked like he knew his time is over in the game, maybe it's time he retired?

Well, v Man U he had a decent game, but against QPR he looked so unfit. Think he needs to be moved on. Think he would do a good job for Chrissy Hughton at Birmingham :emoticon-0148-yes:
